Canvas, you're not alone. My MIL, who was a high-level professional before she retired, could not understand why I \"stored\" my university degree away and chose to be a SAHM. She felt that I'm not economically useful and doesn't contribute to the family income. But that's the price I have to pay for wanting to take care and nurture DD myself.

      Thanks Angelight!

Well for a start, how do you ladies get past \"the look\" by some relatives? I feel that somehow a few people think I should be working instead...

I didn't get the look but mil did say it's a waste for me to quit since I studied so much. Well just told her I want to coach my kids especially DS who's going to be p1 next year. I find it's the older folks who tend to have such thinking. Maybe becos they didn't have the oppty to work. My friends are mostly envious that I can spend more time with kids.

        That is so true. πŸ˜„

                    Hi Susan yap

Can I check with you how you manage without any help? Especially the logistics part. When you need to run an errand, you bring all the kids or do u have someone at home? Or if say u need to pick one kid fr school etc, u bring the other kids along. what about if you have a function t o attend but kids are not allowed? I also read some of these Christian books but I find that it does not offer me much advice on the practical aspects of daily living. Homeschooling is out for me as I do not have the discipline and patience. Praying for strength etc , yes we do that too but practically speaking we still find it hard to cope with practical issues such as cooking, cleaning, spending quality time with dh and kids ,school work, sports etc etc.
Hi, sorry to reply so late. I just saw this post.
As for weekly marketing, I do it either one of these ways.
                    1) My mom can help me care for them when I visit her weekly. I do quick marketing near her place. At night my hubby comes over for dinner and we lug the children and the marketing back home.
                    2) On Sats, if my hubby is free, whole family will make a trip to NTUC as family outing.
                    3) If hubby is willing to babysit three children for a while, I go down to my place's market and do a quick marketing.

I bring my children wherever I go. If hubby is not free, I will bring all three even if one of them is in enrichment only.
I have church mtgs weekly, I pay a friend to babysit all three. She is very good, a trained nurse. Sometimes she even baths my baby.
As for school, I insist on schoolbus. Paying extra if my ds has extra enrichment in school.
We try to go maid free, cos we prefer privacy and scared children to cling on to maid. Save money too. Cos we are one salary family.
Yet to venture into new areas like fetching him cca when he goes p1 next year, but likely to bring all along.
Being so busy already, so we are seriously considering whether to have fourth child πŸ™‚

Hi yap_susan: are the sessions only at Tampines (if I read correctly)? I stay in Hougang/Serangoon area and is interested in the sessions.
