I was at the recording for NSC’09, I could see that Nus High students enjoyed themselves thoroughly, they were there to learn and enjoy.

However, to share of some of the off-camer scene, I’ve seen students from XXXXS were so nervous, so competitive and so tensed that the host and judges had to ask them to relax and smile. This could be verifed with those who had attended the recording.

I always believe, in any compeitions or exams, there are many X-factors contributing to winning or loosing. As a parent, we want to see the loosing teams learn their lessons, get up from where they fall and strike again. To see the winning team rejoice in joy and happy for them. Most important is what they have learnt during the compeitions. Team spirit, team work, sharing with other schools and all these intangible qualities ... Seeing these kids put in so much effort its already very rewarding for parents. Who win or who loose, its not important.


In two competitions, I see different schools working with each other, on the playfield, the school site, helping and encouraging each other. My girl was telling me, she was very fascinated by the good attitite of other neighbourhood schools and the network her seniors have with other schools' seniors.

Let's give all winners a good cheer and the loosing teams a even louder cheer ! Cheers to all students who have put in a lot of effort and learn many valuable lessons of life :celebrate:

I’ve nothing against any school. Just to state what I’ve seen that’s all.

Anyway, I’ve talked to many Nus High’s students and they are really helpful, knowledgeable, easy going and most of all, they are not proud at all!

My main point is: They are "supposed" to be strong in maths and science but how good they are are based on various areas. We should not judged them by performance in 1 or 2 competitions.

Well, thats because we were off against NUSH, and we have much to prove. We did it. Being nervous and tensed does not mean we didn't enjoy ourselves, and moreover, being competitive is alright since its a competition.

Congrats BPGHS!! So you are first, but who is second and third? (can't wait to know the results before the finals on TV )

The point isn’t that we are judging students by 1-2 competitions. It is just exciting to watch and enjoy the competitions. I hope people isn’t too work up. It is well known to people in the know that NUSHS has all the best maths and science students through its selection process. We are thinking that it is rivaling RI soon.

I don't think so. Not ALL good maths and science students are in NUSHS. A lot of them are still in RI and HCI. Unlike RI and HCI students, NUSHS students concentrate more on maths and science and have more time to prepare when it comes to competitions. I can see them growing stronger in this area in years to come. BUT I will not say that ALL the good maths and science students are in NUSHS. RI and HCI students are more balance in all subjects.

I agree that it's fun to watch the competitions and we shouldn't judge the students based on one or two competitons.

I don't think it's correct to say that NUSHS has ALL the best math and science students. Undoubtedly, their students are all very strong in math and science but not all the top math and science students choose to go NUSHS. Some prefer RI/RGS, HCI/NYGH.

I don't think so. Not ALL good maths and science students are in NUSHS. A lot of them are still in RI and HCI. I have to admit that I am abit exaggerated. Actually, I intended to say NUSH and RI have most of the best students in maths and science but we see that more are shifting to NUSH with time. I was in a rush and didn't choose the words properly.
