hi! appreciate if someone can clarify: I'm staying 1-2km of Holy Innocents' Pri. Under Phase 2C balloting, it was <1km in 2010 and 1-2km in 2009. Will I know the distance for 2C balloting in advance next year, b4 I register my child? Meaning that if I know in advance it's <1km, I've no chance and will hv to register at another pri sch. Or will I only know after I register, i.e. if it's <1km, then I'm out of 2C and will end up in 2C supplementary?

You can call up the school on the last day of P2C registration to find out the likely distance category that will undergo balloting and decide then.

      Got it. Thanks! 🙂

I find this forum amazing. The last I log in it was standing at page 13. Now it has threaded to page 30. Wow. Going very strongly. Thank you to parents who are interested in the properties around ACS J and ACS P. It has helped to push up my property price from 1500psf to 1800psf. Also the rental yield is also climbing. It also increases a lot of property agents knocking at our door asking whether we want to sell it. I was amazed to see how rich the PRs in Singapore are. They are willingly to pay us upfront cash. Parents are really amazing. They can do anything for their children. Parents, please remember to do within your means. Just for a school and bust our own pocket. We have long years to go to bring up our children. Money is one of the main drivers for our wellbeings as well as our children. The recent news in the market are depressing. Watch your budget.

            recall 孟母三迁”的 故事 ?

            http://www.chinesestoryonline.com/component/content/article/111-meng-mu-san-qian.html

孟母 feels that if she were to stay in a complex, complicated neigbourhood environment, it'll have bad influence on her son (eg: speak vulgar language, etc) , so she shift house.

she shift house several times until at long last, found a neighbourhood she feels tend to produce scholars, then settle down there.

in SG, there are many parents like 孟母.

Oh Yes! there are many rich PRs in SG.

on actual P1 registration day in popular school, some came along with thick, fat cheque book. At the admin counter, asking the staff a question softly, almost whispering - 'any way to guarantee a seat for my child in P1 ?

NCPS PV result is out. I am one of the many rejected applicants. I think the chances for my DS to get into NCPS is extremely slim even I am staying last then 500m from the school. I think the MOE should seriously consider the abolish of the phase 2A/A1 system. I have see parents who stay so far from the school being enrolled just because they are related or alumi of the school.

                    hi gekkhim,

regarding yr concern - whether RGPS P1 2013 intake is going to be reduced further from 270 to 240, I rang up RGPS Princpal to inquire. She replied she is not sure - because the numbers are not controlled by her, but by MOE.

so i wrote in to MOE to inquire same thing.

MOE replied that at this point in time (September 2011), the numbers for RGPS 2013 intake still not finalized yet. The numbers will only be out around June 2012.

however, the reply did encourage parents to have alternative school(s) in mind, instead of just having a preferred choice school.

                    reason given:
                    ========

the reply stated that RGPS intake may be reduced gradually, necessary to implement the initiatives under the Primary Education Review and Implementation (PERI) Committee - to enhance primary school education and enable children to benefit from a wider range of academic and non-academic activities, and achieve better learning outcome(s).

the reply stated that it'll require the primary schools to transit and operate in single-session, with a gradual reduction in the enrolment of primary schools.
