      hi gekkhim,

regarding yr concern - whether RGPS P1 2013 intake is going to be reduced further from 270 to 240, I rang up RGPS Princpal to inquire. She replied she is not sure - because the numbers are not controlled by her, but by MOE.

so i wrote in to MOE to inquire same thing.

MOE replied that at this point in time (September 2011), the numbers for RGPS 2013 intake still not finalized yet. The numbers will only be out around June 2012.

however, the reply did encourage parents to have alternative school(s) in mind, instead of just having a preferred choice school.

      reason given:
      ========

the reply stated that RGPS intake may be reduced gradually, necessary to implement the initiatives under the Primary Education Review and Implementation (PERI) Committee - to enhance primary school education and enable children to benefit from a wider range of academic and non-academic activities, and achieve better learning outcome(s).

the reply stated that it'll require the primary schools to transit and operate in single-session, with a gradual reduction in the enrolment of primary schools.

NCPS PV result is out. I am one of the many rejected applicants. I think the chances for my DS to get into NCPS is extremely slim even I am staying last then 500m from the school. I think the MOE should seriously consider the abolish of the phase 2A/A1 system. I have see parents who stay so far from the school being enrolled just because they are related or alumi of the school.

            HI,

ya my back up is registering him to KCPS in Bishan which is within 2km, bse on the statistic my wife collected it seems he will stand a better chance to get a place in KCPS then in NCPS . It's really a big headache to register our kids to primary school. I didn't consider our previous primary school as mine has shifted and my wife had close down.

You stay less than 500m from NCPS, yet you are within 2km of KCPS??
You have 2 homes, or going by caretaker route?

                Hi class monitor,

yes I am staying less the 500m from NCPS but if I register under phase 2C the chance of getting in is 1 : 3.14 but if I register KCPS under the caretaker route chances of getting in to KCPS is higher the ratio is 1 : 1.2. It may sound kinda of odd but I considering base on the chance of getting a placing when balloting.

So, you plan to look at the situation when it comes to registration, and decide which address to use? :scratchhead:

Let's say if the chance at NCPS is higher, and you end up using your own address, who will look after your child?

Let's say if the chance at KCPPS is higher and you use the caregiver's address, will this caregiver be looking after your child, or will you be using it just to register successfully at KCPPS?

                    Hi phtthp,

Thank you for the reply, this is a good piece of information. Nevertheless, I feel that such piece of information is very critical for the parents who can then decide and plan what is their best chance ahead of time.

Especially for those parent volunteers, who sincerely commits their time and effort to the students and school deserve a better treatment.

                      hi gekkhim,

in your case, perhaps you register at your alma mater Princess Elizabeth Primary (PEPS) first, under phase 2A. Safer that you have a school to hang onto first. PEPS is also a good school.
