Pooh Bear:
Dear vidhyalog:
All parents want the best for their kids. I understand your anxiety on Sec School selection. Some kids blossom later in life. Sometimes I feel as mother, I am overly anxious for my son while my son is more calm on DSA selections and PSLE preparations. My son will find a way in life somehow.
All the best to your DD in the PSLE.
Hi PoohBear
Did your son get the CO from SST?
The forum has gone very quiet.
Cheers -
Hi vidhyalog:
My son got the CO from SST, besides the NUSH. He still wants to attend SST trial lessons on 22 Oct, even though I know his heart is in NUSH. At least he is still open-minded and open to options.
Thanks for your concern.
All the best for the PSLE!!! How much oil we need to pour for the grand finale! I am so eager to reach the last PSLE paper!
Cheers!!! -
I am so envious of all those that got a CO from SST this year. My DD will be trying for next year. :congrats: for all those parents and their kids!! :celebrate:

I am so eager to reach the last PSLE paper!
- Totally agree with you on it! Can hardly wait for this to be over.
Congrats to your son on the 2 COs. Nice of SST to have a trial session - and very mature of your son to want to make an informed decision.
In the rejection letter SST did state we can appeal after the PSLE - so holding out a thin ray of hope. But at this stage after I have seen my son try to put his best - I think I will take whatever be the result.
Good Luck for the last lap.
Cheers -
Congrads to all who got the CO from SST.

More like back to the old times where they have Technical, Science and Art stream in Sec.3 and 4.

Hi Parents, my daughter was selected at SST and we need to make a decision next week to send her there or not. She is expecting about 245-250 in her PSLE. what other options do i have for any IP schools (non-chinese)
SST looks attractive but it’s not proven yet and from it’s website i don’t see any achievement from it’s students in competitive exams (unlike NUS high, RI, NJC and other shools)
Pls advise -

Some information you may want to ponder:
* SST has more boys; girls are about 20-25% of cohort
* There is no literature, arts, home economics subjects, the children will have ADMT (arts, design media and technology) as a subject in year 1/2
* SST niche is science and technology - does your daughter has a keen interest in this area more than other subjects?
In terms of academic achievement, the mean score is about 245 which means that some can get as high as 260+ or as low as 200+. I think an all- rounder may not want to go SST unless the interest really lies in Science and Technology.
Some plus points: small class of 20plus, air-conditioner rooms, brand new campus next year
But the fees are higher $280/mth
Hope this helps. -
