Erm… i started DD1 at Mathshub i tink early tis yr bah… Not sure wat u meant by useful… becoz DD1 is quite independent, as in she will self read books n go thru her wrksheets… plus she is a keen and fast learner… hard to tell the vast difference… though the teacher says tat she’s catching up real fast… bcoz she’s attending K1 lessons in Mathshub now… as they haf no Nursery classes…

Oic… im thinking to let DS learn some mental maths first before into real maths…


Choices of abacus & mental maths are limited… other than 3G maths & CMA, do anyone have any other recommendations?

Hi hi… my elder gal is born in Jan 2007 and younger one is in 2010…actually i have lots of questions with regards to Parents Volunteer or joining as a Grass Root Leader in order to be eligible for phase 2B for Pri 1 registration in Rulang Pri School. Anyone can advise me or which forum group that i should join? Tks

a) if you join Rulang as PV, you are tying yourself down to only one school, Rulang. Find out the minimum number of PV hours required at Rulang - is it only 40 or > 40 hrs ?

b) if you join Grassroot, you've greater opportunities to choose and pick ==> Rulang + other good schools in Jurong West zone.

monitor 2B situation closely.
if got good chance to get in Rulang, strike!
if not, aim for the next best available school in Jurong West area.

Hi I’m new here, my DS is Nov2007 till now his ABC still don’t kn. It’s look like can’t memorize keep forget when I teach no matter how I teach can’t go into his brain. But for三字经 he can memorize 5 pages. Does anyone have this problem?

Does he know his phonics? I think phonics is more important then memorising the ABC squence now. The ABC sequence is only needed when checking for words in the dict, and some squencing exercises that can be skipped if he does not know the squence yet. Phonics will help him to learn how to read. JMHO.


Do u speak Mandarin at home?

Does he go to CC / kindy?

We speak Mandarin at home. When DS went to kindy, he knows all the single letter sound within 2-3 terms.

I did not teach him the ABC sequence but he learnt it by watching alphabet song on DVD.
