Ya, unfortunately my dd's school still do tests and exams. I find it okay generally as it gives us some gauge on her strength and weakness and keepmus on our feet.

Yeah, my daughter in P1 this year...stressed out man !!!hehe, in the past, whenever my friends complained they getting stressed with the childrens' education, i cant feel it. With dd in p1, i finally get a taste of it.
i dont think my parents ever get stressed when i was p1. Education level is really different now.
First test was in May...did badly bcos I thought P1 is honeymoon. Second test was Aug. Oct another test...to me, it's like SA2 - 2 books of Chinese.
It's just P1 right ? Why is it so tough ??? MOE :siao: to do this. -
Oh dear Janet…I’m sure all this revision will help her build strong fundamentals! My son is also in P1. No CA and SA. So he really doesn’t know how to revise or to sit for a test.
His Chinese teacher has asked the class to revise for Chinese Oral (even though there’s no exam), and his version of revision is to just read through quickly! And when I explained to him how to read nicely, or describe the pictures to get more marks, he told me he didn’t want the marks! Absolutely no concept of taking an exam! I can imagine that if he really had to sit for an exam, I will have a full head of white hair. -

Haha, at least ur white hairs come 2 years later. Mine is already blooming in crops. Enjoy ur honeymoon now! -
I feel so guilty because exams are around the corner and I only just started helping DS last week! Because I was so tired from working that I relied on him to be disciplined. I thought only his comprehension cannot make it, now then I realized his grammar also cannot! Die. No time to help him.
I should have quitted my job last year! -

My daughter's teacher said the students must get used to the idea of having \"tests\" or they won't know what to do during the REAL exam. Next Mon will be CL oral. This whole week is practicing her show & tell for Eng. Hope she can score in that section. Every night memorize 1-2 paragraphs.

Can't wait for orals to be over so that can we can work on her Eng comprehension. Primary school not easy. -

Go watch the movie ‘I don’t know how she does it’
It’s about a FTWM’s struggle to balance career and her 2 children. Hilarious too.
Movie reminded me why I quit my job to stay home. Not capable enough to juggle so many things. And absolutely hate to miss any of my baby’s 1st milestones -

Ladies can still afford to work when kids are in kindy...but they will miss out on children's milestones like when they take first step or utter first word. Given today's tough education system, it would be great if they can stay home to prepare the kids for P1...can't possibly wait till the child goes to P1 to start preparing. It's very tough for the child.
Preparation would be stuff like knowing the basic numbers 1-50 (K2), reading and knowing hanyu pinyin. At P1, kids are taught numbers to 100. However, the BEST preparation is being able to read, as Maths is a play of words...more than and less than, which is not easy to grasp.
