Hi Funz,
can you pm me the contact of your designer? I wanted to do major reno to my new place. Want to knock down walls, reposition rooms etc. So need the creative juices of a good designer as well as someone reliable.
Tks!Funz:
For all our 3 houses we went with a designer. Definitely more expensive but neither of us have the time, energy nor patience to go hunting around for stuff and co-ordinating with various parties. We wanted 1 stop shop. There were a few rounds of meetings and discussions to work out what we really want and thereafter, a few more times just to choose materials which the designer has already shortlisted for us.
We knew we were working with a good designer on our 3rd house as he made his electrician strip off everything that he has done and redo the wiring because it was not done systematically enough the 1st time. The designer explained to us that a lot of times, because the wirings will be concealed by the false ceilings or walls, the contractors do not bother with being neat or systematic. But in the long run, the owner will suffer as there will definitely be need for maintenance and such and imagine if all the wires are all over the place. -
Hi,
If its painting and little bit of 2 bedroom, I would suggest ala-carte cause, then you can choose your self and wont be that expensive also… -
Hi,
Just wondering whether anyone here has good experience with IDs here, in that they have good (creative and practical) designs, is reliable, honest, and affordable.
tks. -
There's another thread that touched on interior designing vs ala-carte: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=12573

ID is very personal, one design / designer I like maybe not what you like, vice visa is true too.
My home first reno is DIY. Re-reno some years later we get designer, Vegas, outcome is we like it.
Now the third reno also use designer, WeiKen.com, we shall see when reno completed. -

Paint 1 room DIY best. -
Which designer did you use in Vegas? We are thinking of doing some reno and my hubby shorted-listed Vegas as a potential firm that we would like to try.

I design my house by my own but my main contractor did give me some advices on the design and amendments are necessary sometimes.
I don't like ID coz they charge you more and the quality of the things are of low quality (that's how they made money).

Kiasubox, your hse is actually quite nice especially since its design by yourself. Simple but nice. Although can’t see the whole house but from certain photos, it looks simple and nice. Did your neighbour drop by to view?
