All About T-Score

Thanks verykiasu2010, your explanation is superbly clear. Where do you get this information?
So I can say that if the papers are all relatively easier, the average is higher but the high scores are lower? -

the explanation can be found all over internet. the para I copied has been credited to wiki, referenced aboveThanks verykiasu2010, your explanation is superbly clear. Where do you get this information?

you are right to say that easy paper -->high average --> low t-score
assume everyone in the cohort gets 100% for all 4 subjects : mean = 100, variance = zero, SD = zero, t-score for each subject = 50, max t-score for the psle = 200 when everyone gets 100% for all subjects
presently NYPS website also has a complete explanation with ppt for the PSLE t-score calculation. download it for your record and use.

I see thanks verykiasu2010, I did not know this information was so widely available.
I am much clearer about this after reading the info you have given. -

Oic .... But if i get 200 t score with perfect raw scores ... I wouldnt feel Gd.

credit must be given to the principal of NUSH - he is the one who devised the t-score formula, so i heardI see thanks verykiasu2010, I did not know this information was so widely available.

[/quote]if the papers are super tough, everyone else score less than 10% and your ds scores near 100%, his t-score will be in the 10s thousand or more

Huh ... More then 300 t score u mean, vk2010? Tts cool :imcool: .. Will dream on hahaaaa

you actually don't need to work extra hard to achieve that. just wish everyone else do badly, very badly, and your t-score will be higher
t-score = transformed score. it is a ranking measurement, not an indication of how many marks you scored
I used to mistakenly think that max is 300; but if you play with the formula, there is no max, and in extreme cases, it can be more than 10 or 20 thousand for t-score...but given the cohort size and the normal distribution characteristics of any cohort's performance, it hardly reaches above 295
my DS used to say he was aiming for 303....aim only haha -

Hi all,
I m just curious on the grading for higher MT. All I know is Distinction, Merit or Pass. But do they based solely on raw scores? If so, what is the mark range for D, M and P?
Sorry β¦ But I m super blur on this.
