All About Choosing Piano Schools And Teachers

Hi, looking for a female (requested by my daughter) piano teacher for my 4 year old girl. Appreciate if anyone can recommend one in the east. As I currently only have a keyboard at home, thus would be bringing her to the teacher's place. Apart from Thu evenings, timing is flexible for weekdays 5-6pm, Sat 11am-12pm and weekend afternoons after 3pm. Thanks a lot

suggest you change piano -

Agree. If not high on commitment, just get a Clavinova. My daughter passed fairly well in Grade 4 recently after learning on it for a year. Just so long as the instrument is full-size, has normal piano actions including weighted keys, clearly recognizable piano tone, sustaining pedal. Mine cost only 3k plus and is still good as new after 15 years, no tuning required, and weathered 3 years overseas even.sirtech:

Digital pianos are relatively easier to control due to the light mechanical touch. I have this young student who uses digital keyboard but when he comes to lessons, he has difficulties with the strength to play. It is better for them to get used to the acoustic piano touch as it helps with the strengthening of fingers.hii:

Bailabi: not all electronic pianos have a light touch. In fact, I find the grand piano at my sonโs music school, which I use to accompany him occasionally, lighter to play. Between different acoustic pianos, there is so much difference in touch that I find that my piano is just โanother one of themโ. I do get to try a number of pianos when I accompany my kids at non-piano instrumental exams and concerts.

Hi, I need some advice: Iโm planning to send DD for piano lessons. Is it better to get her an individual teacher or send her to piano school like Yamaha?

Personally i prefer private when i was learning, can speak my mind freely haha.

I know of a piano teacher who stays near Bukit Panjang area. She stays at Hillview Ave and has been teaching for 6 years. Really good with kids, and is a music undergrad from Lasalle College of Arts. Would be more than happy to give you her contacts, if interested can email me at [email protected]

*EDIT: Just an update, she now resides in BOON LAY central, near Jurong Point. Worth travelling though hahaha. -

Everything is going high tech. You can get a digital keyboard with midi port and some samples on a laptop. Plug it in and get a S&S sound quality. -
Can anyone recommend a good piano teacher with proven track records, reasonable rates and is good with small kids, preferably staying around north-east areas? Pls PM me the contact and details if you know of someone. Many thanks!
