While I dun think I heard about marks being deducted for wrong answers, perhaps it can be true to avoid tikam answers.


Knew of a case where the gal came back to say she left 16 maths questions blank (cannot remember round 1 or 2) and we all thought no chance liao. But the gal is in GEP now, but of course, her strength is in language, not maths.

Yep, what I mean is if the deduction of marks is true, the logic is to minimize Tikam answers and encourage thought-through answers.

Do any of you have any feedback from other parents whose kids are in GEP? I've heard from some other parents that GEP curriculum might not be suitable for everyone and many who passed the GEP selection test chose to stay in mainstream instead. Do you guys know of anyone who did that and what was their thought process?

my cousin did, in the late 80's. My auntie left her to make the decision as she believe that the child must be prepared to make the commitment and be happy with the decision. My cousin didn't want to transfer out of her school. She went on to RGS/RJC/NUS..

August was screening test.

October is selection test. November results out.
Top 1.1 percent invited to enter GEP programme.
those selected given yellow envelopes by MOE ?

Golden dragon year - kids born in yr 2000 (Herbie's daughter year) - 566 were selected out of P3 cohort (2009).

By the way, where will the selection test be held?

My DD mentioned the second round test will be in Nanyang on Wednesday or Thursday in some week.

Different schools will be sent to different centres for the selection test.

my dd left 4 questions not finished during math test...to my surprise, i received my dd's call just now, she passed through the 1st round test... really surprised me.

Actually, I think the marks are deducted for wrong answers so leaving qns blank when one runs out of time is better than just filling in an answer. Your gal must have done well for her other qns. Congrats! :congrats:

Rabbit year (kids born in 1999), 550 were selected out of 44000 p3-2008 cohort.. 375 boys & 175 girls thereabout (if I remember correctly). But not all took up the offer, of course..

My dd said she left 13 questions unanswered - not enough time. Both dd and I :? as she receive her round 2 letter today.

Probably majority of the kids left even more questions unanswered or got them wrong.

My DS also did not complete the Maths paper so its a little surprising that he cleared round 1, really cant tell what MOE looking for. The second round is on 18 Oct and 19 Oct and the briefing for the children selected for GEP will be on 12 Nov. Anyone knows what is General Ability? This is my first time seeing this.

Anyway, clearing round 1 is good enough cos his school provide a separate program for kids who cleared round 1. This program also continues into his affiliated secondary school.

Took him whole of primary one to settle down in school so no matter what, he will stay on in his school.
