      Scary:
Parents, believe the Bros and Sistas here will pray for you. Just don't be disappointed if your child does not do well for 2nd round or opt not to go to GEP schools (need to retain some smarties in PH). To pass the first hurdle is already not easy. You know your child best! Don't stress them and let them shine in their own ways. Most of the times, the stress comes from parents because we compare, want them to be as good as XXX, etc. Oops. .. seems like I am talking about myself. :spank:

Will tell some stories after the GEP tests.
I believe a GEP student has an advantage during the DSA stage because their school results over the years will be the main consideration for a confirmed offer. Hence, if a PHPPS student is offered, he/she should really take it up for the sake of securing a good secondary school before PSLE.

For those PHPPS students who did not get into the GEP programme, it doesn't mean that they are not good academically. To me, GEP screening is more for those stronger in English / math / abstracts reasoning at a younger age. However, PSLE is looking out for the all rounders who are good also in Chinese and Science.

Every year, PHPPS has more than 40 students entering HCI/NYGH/RI/RGS/NUSH/NJC with and without the help of HCL. From my observation in the past years, if they are within top 40-50 of the whole cohort by P6 mid-year or Prelims, they are fairly set to enter their dream schools.

actually, it’s already very, very hard to clear Round 1.

if PH has those what you got - twinning programme for kids who cleared round 1 but missed round 2 (like what they have in Nan Hua), will be excellent !

:congrats: Happy mama, E3, drickymummy and all others successfully who cleared round 1 :congrats:

It is an achievement itself to proceed to round 2. I remembered last year when ds2 completed his round 2 , first thing he said sheepishly : “ what kind of questions was that, it was super duper terribly tough!”….and obviously he continued to stay on as faithful PHPPS student lah…cos didn’t clear it mah 😉

                Funx3:

Wow! More like 20% of the Kids Clear it! :salute: :salute:
I have a hypothesis and wish to share it here. I think I read somewhere that those who clear GEP round 1 is considered to be within top 10% of cohort. PH has more than 20% clearing this.

For PSLE, T-score >= 250 is also considered as top 10% of cohort; and PH has more than 20% clearing that as well.

My hypothesis is ...... drum roll please ....... dadadada ...... at whichever level we look at (P1-6), the sch is consistently producing good results, and not just at P6 level.

Do you folks agree with this, or am I trying too hard to form patterns from fortune telling tea cups? 😆

I have a slightly different take on this. If a student is good enough to be selected for GEP, then this child does not really need DSA to secure a good IP school. With his (future) PSLE result, he's still very much capable of getting into a good IP school.

Too bad this is one problem that I'm unlikely to face (though I really wish I can have it, haha).

                  E3/drickymummy/Happy Mama,

Any treats if your child clear the test?
                  Bros + Sistas,
Do we need to do the \"chant\" again?
Don't need chant lah, this time straightaway - whoever's child passes the 2nd round will host the next BBQ? Haha, high chance coz we have 3 精英 here ... :boogie: We may even have 2 or 3 hosts ... 😄

And we miss these 3 ladies the last time right .. must see their 庐山真面目 😉 Ask them their secret 'recipe' to deliver such high achievers ...

Markfch your hypothesis is correct. So you don’t need to stress liao … Just stay in the top 20% of PH.
