Hihi,

I would like to know what are the imperative stationaries for a P1 kid to bring along to school daily? Apart from the norm like pencils, sharpener, scissor, eraser, short ruler, glue; do I need to prepare also highlighters, staple, puncher (small portal one), colour pencils, long ruler?

Any recommendation for colour pencil?

Please adv if I have missed out necessity items.

:thankyou:

so fast prepare already? think most of the essential stuff has been listed. school is still quite kind to P1s. If they need special stuff like long ruler, will ask the kids to write down in homework diary or notify the parents through different channels.

but i think there is quite a fair bit of colouring in P1. So have to bring colour pencils everyday. If i'm not wrong, usually they state Lyra colour pencils in the booklist. But actually any brand also can.

Yeah, a bit KS but I prefer to get ready in adv than rushing thr to getting items I may have missed at the eleventh hours.

Saw a mummy-and-son debating to get either LYRA and Faber Castle at Popular yesterady so I think I will go by your recommendaation in my next visit (very soon coz I found myself walking into Popular so often recently... looks like very addictive to it :faint: )

Err, must I get box of 24 colours or 48 colours? :scratchhead: I think 12 colours are too minimum, right?
1. 2B Chung Hwa pencils, with pencil caps otherwise pencil case will be black in no time
2. Instead of long ruler, get the foldable one (saw at Happy House in Toa Payoh hub)
3. Eraser - Faber Caster grey one (no eraser dust but strips, easy to clean up)
4. Colour pencils, 24 Faber Caster
5. Stabilo Highlighter 2 colours or get the very tiny ones(no known brand), can hv more colours
6. Multi-colour pen(with green) or green pen as teachers seem to like to ask children to do correction in green these days.

Puncher not really essential at P1 as they usually do filing at home but stapler is userful.

depends on school, DS has:

1. 6 2B pencils.
2. eraser (i bought the black coloured ones from popular, not sure what the brand, but very good to erase; else I would go for staedtler also).
3. ruler - foldable type…available from also those shops that sell cutie/cartoon stuff.
4. glue - I got the roll on type.
5. sharpener - in case of emergency becos i try to make sure sharpening is already done at home.
6. colour pencils - I put these in a separate pencil box. I originally got 12 colours, but had to top up later becos the art teacher seems to love different colours.

I recall faintly that school asked us not to put in staplers becos some young kids end up having accident (may be due to horseplay also). All stapling done at home by parents if required.

If u can help it, maybe u wanna hold on to the purchases until year end. Popular usually hold their 20% sales during the school hols in June/Dec. Can save quite a bit depending on what u buy.

very true what bebebub says. Popular having bookfest in Nov (suntec). There should be very good buys during that time.

Just brought my kiddos to this shop Smiggle at Lot 1 to pick out some stuff as their children day’s gift.

They were ecstatic. Haha.

I still have boxes of the boring ole 2B Chung Hwa or Staedtler pencils and erasers which are their main stationery but throwing in some colourful and cute stuff now and then does brighten their work day a little.

Hi Thumbelina,

I found out about the discount thingy when i called up their outlets. My understanding is that they usually have discounts during festive like National Day, Children Day and may be the upcoming school holidays, only thing is the discount varies. 😉
