Stationery and School bags

Just brought my kiddos to this shop Smiggle at Lot 1 to pick out some stuff as their children day’s gift.
They were ecstatic. Haha.
I still have boxes of the boring ole 2B Chung Hwa or Staedtler pencils and erasers which are their main stationery but throwing in some colourful and cute stuff now and then does brighten their work day a little. -

Hi Thumbelina,Aiyo. I missed out the promo again. I didn't see any promo on the newspaper leh.
Can you let me know which particular newspaper to look out.
:thankyou:
I found out about the discount thingy when i called up their outlets. My understanding is that they usually have discounts during festive like National Day, Children Day and may be the upcoming school holidays, only thing is the discount varies.

Thanks bebebub. 20% includes assessments books, text books and stationary right?
If u can help it, maybe u wanna hold on to the purchases until year end. Popular usually hold their 20% sales during the school hols in June/Dec. Can save quite a bit depending on what u buy.kiasu mummy:
Hihi,
I would like to know what are the imperative stationaries for a P1 kid to bring along to school daily? Apart from the norm like pencils, sharpener, scissor, eraser, short ruler, glue; do I need to prepare also highlighters, staple, puncher (small portal one), colour pencils, long ruler?
Any recommendation for colour pencil?
Please adv if I have missed out necessity items.
:thankyou: -
KSI and hquek,
Thanks for your feedback on the stationaries to pack.

Hi Thumbelina,

thx for letting me know. Hope to get a gd offer for the SPI bag. :udawoman: -
on pencils and colour pencils. For those who want to worry more, you can think if to get those ‘angular’ types. I personally buy those colour pencils that are angular (normal types are circular). This is becos I find that my kids love to spread the colour pencils out on the table and use when they want. ‘Normal’ colour pencils then tend to roll around and may land on the floor…causing the lead (not sure about the exact term) inside to break. Creates more headache when I sharpen and sharpen only to see the tip breaking off every so often.
Same goes for writing pencils. I try to get those that says tougher, ie the lead within not so easy to break, or those that are more angular.
btw, I also invest in pencil caps (so DS won’t get poked by the sharp ends), and also started buying pencil extenders (those metal looking thingy that one puts a short pencil in). These 2 I usually get at Daiso becos of the range. -
thanks hquek,
Thats some practical advice - will go for the triangular pencil.
What with his figitey hands, DS is forever playing with pencils, dropping and picking when he is supposed to do homework , sigh! -

same same. Both my DS are also like that. Somehow under their use, pencils will drop to the floor countless times. I had one pencil that sounds more like a shaker/rattler. waste of resources. Sigh.
and then there’s the death grip. Somehow DS2 can grip crayons until it snaps into 2 (the thin type of crayons…he’s not that powerful yet) - new ones somemore. -
Thanks hquek for sharing about the pencils and colour pencils.
Now I'm trying to convince DD1 to buy a practical pencil case
