I have following question about changing direct speech to indirect speech.

Paul said, \"I went to church yesterday.\"
Paul said that he had gone to church the previous day/the day before.

Which phrase should be used? My daughter's teacher said that they had to use the 'the previous day'. But I believe we can use either one. Am I correct?

The teacher is correct. We used to learn either one is accepted. Starting from a few years ago, \"the day before\" is no longer allowed. There are many assessment books still using \"the day before\".

The Write Place http://www.mexxi3.com/index.htm has creative writing classes starting from K2. However heard that waiting list is rather long. Registration for 2012 for new students starts on 24 Oct.

oh dear! how to tmproves good Phrases in writing good compo?

Really need a good enrichment school? where & which?

well, last year my boy in pri1 and I had enrolled my boy to I Can Read @ Eastpoint. but seemed no any improves. The most upset are I do not know what the taught. at last, i called off.:(
recently, the compo was back. and all notes which given by teachers' are too long winded and out of the storyline.:(

Try Success Learning. I know of a girl who’s compo improved after going to Success Learning. They give lots of good phrases for students to use for their writing.
