Thanks hquek for sharing about the pencils and colour pencils.
Now I'm trying to convince DD1 to buy a practical pencil case  -
for pencil case, i originally got one of those with many compartments. Then realised that it’s pretty heavy. DS is using one of those cloth types, it’s very light.
Strange how the world turns, despite all the money i spent, ended up the pencil boxes we use are all free of charge (from either enrichment centre or yakult). -

Thanks, hquek! I've been trying to find these 2 things for a lonnnnng time! Now I have the answer!on pencils and colour pencils. For those who want to worry more, you can think if to get those 'angular' types. I personally buy those colour pencils that are angular (normal types are circular). This is becos I find that my kids love to spread the colour pencils out on the table and use when they want. 'Normal' colour pencils then tend to roll around and may land on the floor...causing the lead (not sure about the exact term) inside to break. Creates more headache when I sharpen and sharpen only to see the tip breaking off every so often.
Same goes for writing pencils. I try to get those that says tougher, ie the lead within not so easy to break, or those that are more angular.
btw, I also invest in pencil caps (so DS won't get poked by the sharp ends), and also started buying pencil extenders (those metal looking thingy that one puts a short pencil in). These 2 I usually get at Daiso becos of the range.
For pencil caps, I improvised with self-made paper and scotchtaped ones, and ds1's creative classmate gave the caps names, and wrote their names on the paper caps -- very cute.

hi picolo,
I usually go to the daiso at Plaza Sing - not sure about the other branches. They did run out of pencil caps sometime ago, but when they have, there may be quite a few different types available. Anyways, Isetan Scotts also sell pencil caps - DS1 insisted in buying some pokemon ones even though they were very pricey (by my standards).
FYI, Kinokuniya also stock the pencil extender thingy. I think it's a bit more expensive than daiso - but theirs is the real metally type. Daiso I think is a plasticky sort. Sorry, buy until blur. -

Hi hquek,
Thanks for the useful tip on angular pencils! I saw the pencil caps at Daiso Rivervale Mall too. -
hi,
how is the pencil cap like in Daiso? how many in a pack something like the one in the link?
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=12569002084
cos i am thinking of getting this with help of my friend, about $3 to $4 per pack cos i realise can act as extender and pencil cap -
looks a bit like but the ones I see are translucent. Anyway, pencil caps can act as extenders. but proper extenders may be required if you want to use to the very last bit possible.
As a mark, the ones in daiso are about $2 for 4 pcs of caps. -
oh yes, but there are different types of caps. some are wider and others narrower…it may/not fit the pencil you buy. Some of the caps don’t fit well into the pencil (just tip only). Just info only. Interesting how I can go on and on about pencil caps. woah lau…

I think the ones at Popular and Isetan are cheaper than that. It comes in 2 rows, so I think there should be at least 10 caps in total. These are the transparent types in different colours. Best is that they also have a sticker name tag for you to paste on the cap... although it hasn't stopped my DD from losing them nonetheless.looks a bit like but the ones I see are translucent.
