Shop assistants who clings to customers...

and your figure, skin texture, hair and your panda eyes :slapshead:MandyMummy:
at some Guardian and Watson stores, the cosmetics dept promoters will approach you even if you are viewing non-cosmetics products. I know it's their job but still... it can be quite a turn-off especially so in Guardian stores where they are smaller in size so the promoters can see you the moment you step into the store and they approach you straight away. :slapshead:
Some of these promoters will start commenting or criticizing on your complexion, pigmentation, pimples, blackhead etc. It really puts customers off. :yikes:
in short, you will be scrutinized from head to toe
Try criticize them back and intro them to buy something else to use?

Some shop assistants not only leech on u, they also insist on holding the clothes for u.
They will follow customers around the store and even escort customers to the fitting room.
Worse still, there is no mirror in fitting room. One has no choice but to come out and look at the mirror outside. The salesgirl would then comment how good the dress look on u.
Needless to say, I won’t consider trying out clothes if there isn’t any mirror in fitting room. -
The worst experience was at a shoe shop. This male assistant followed me and stood so close to me that his arm almost touch my arm. I kept telling him I’ll like to look around on my own and will tell him my choice later. But he refused to get lost. Then another assistant came and stood on my other side. So I was sandwiched between 2 assistants. What are they trying to do?? So I turned and left the shop.

errr sall,
what perfume do u used ? I wanna make sure DW dun buy that brand
I think these salespeople are usually on commission based, so they are rather competitive and over-zealous. It usually helps if you tell them nicely to backoff and will call them if required. :imanangel: -

Strangely I hardly encounter sales gal who leeches on me. take 1 look at me and they are pretty sure I won't buy.
hahaha...sama sama.
and for me, sometimes they may stand at a corner and monitor if i'm there to shoplift :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
but seriously, it's not easy being a good sales person, must know how to 查言观色. They must understand that some customers like to be followed and 'served', but some do not.

I wasn't using perfume then. I think they din realise they're invading customers' personal space by leeching on to them. Then they'll lose the customers and also lose their commission.

Those that just follow are not as bad as those who follow and shift back everything you touch. Feel like turning around to ask them if they even want me to select their products. Felt as if I was messing up their store and imposing on them. <roll eyes>

I like such sales people. Since they’re so conscientious, I just give them more to do.
I just need to pop into cubicle and they will give me every dress/shirt/skirt they think I will buy. I send back those I dun like… try some… and buy a few. I ask them to help propose a belt or a scarf… Then, I leave the shop with the stuff I like without having to browse too much and no need to keep queueing for changing room because I dun have to LEAVE the dressing room. This makes shopping efficient for me.
Sometimes, I buy nothing because I liked nothing. They like to have mirrors outside so they can convince you to buy. I just listen lor… then I say "I like." or "Yuck!" depending on what I like. If it makes them happy to talk, I’m ok. Their sales talk doesn’t influence me. I still buy what I like only. -
Chenonceau, I don’t get this kind of service in all the shops I go to. There was once I wanted to buy this foundation but an actress came in at about the same time. Guess what? The sales girl went to entertain the actress. The actress was really taking a looonnnnnng time to choose so i left the counter and went to the next one to get my foundation. After I bought my foundation, I had to bypass the same counter again and saw the actress left without buying anything. I almost feel like dangling the paper bag infront of her and laugh but I resisted.

Heh! That's 'cos I shop at places where actresses NEVER go.
This said, I was once trying to buy some steamed baos when a somewhat famous actress walked in. I was first (and the only) in the shop for 2 minutes, and had opened my mouth to place my order when she walked in, cut in front of me, placed her order and went away.
The me in those days just kept quiet. If it had happened today, I would have told her tersely that I was there first and am not invisible.
