My son has received a confirmed offer from SST. He is very excited about the school. However, because it is such a new school, I too have some reservations. I don't know how serious are those people in the shoutbox. Have to take everything they say with a huge lump of salt, I guess. We didn't try to DSA any other school because it is really stressful. Was actually hoping that he would gain admission into a good school with his PSLE results. We were actually eyeing Victoria until SST came into the picture.


Will your son be accepting SST? Any other comments would be helpful.

Hi. My son was also aiming for victoria and ACS(I). I seriously don't know this is the school for my child. It takes in the top 30% of the cohort, so that means they take in students who would get 240-260 in thr PSLE? Will sst be as succesful as NUSHS? My son is excited at first, but after thinking about it, he does not know what to do.

Just browse the sst website, and is quite alarmed that they’ve listed only 5 teachers under the acad. staff section. Perhaps, they’re still recruiting but would they be ready by Jan? Perhaps you should re-visit the school or give them a call.

Another factor in deciding which school is actually distance. Many parents/kids, forget to take that into consideration and the poor child ended up having to travel long distances for 4-6 years. If yr child can read /nap on the train/bus, then they could at least spend some productive time during commute. However, if like mine, even a car ride, makes him giddy, it would be better off to choose a school nearer. So even though the school my son has chosen is perceived as stressful, he is very certain he wants to go there rather than one much further away as, in his own words, with the time saved in travelling, he can spend it more productively on his studies.

The end-point is 'O' levels for SST. Really do not want poor 'O' level results after all the fun and enjoyment. NUSH has their own assessment and has the endorsement of NUSAt least you know where the kids will go.

I am staying in the central. Distance's not really a factor as my son does not mind travelling in the bus since he takes the bus home everyday. All the schools that he wants to go are quite far away(VS,SST,NJC)

There are 12 teachers at SST as far as I know and I think they are still recruiting more teachers for CCAs and languages.

May I know what school your son is in?

You didn't count the HODs? Anyway there are only 8 classes, right? Don't need so many teachers, lah.

Din know that HODs are listed under management staff. School is run like a private enterprise…with mgt staff and board of directors…pardon my suakuness.

Autonomous or Independent schools also have Board of Directors wat. And if HOD are not Management, what are they?

You have up to 26 oct to decide right?

After that, presuming you give SST a positive answer, but after PSLE results are released and your child does well enough to get to his dream school, previously thought to be unreachable, can he still reject his confirmed application and go for his dream school?
