Sheldon's mother, Dr Lee Tung Jean, a 35-year-old civil servant who holds a PhD in economics from Oxford University, said her son has been been doing maths puzzles and raiding the bookshops for maths textbooks and assessment books since he was three years old.

:rotflmao: Looks like we'll see more parents with 3-year-olds raiding Popular Bookstore for Primary school textbooks and assessment books soon.

        Just joking. πŸ˜‚

Sheldon is real genius by nature....but with more and more kids that start enrichment earlier and earlier, some of those that manage to go gep are not 'so natural'... πŸ¦† :siam: ...and leaving some real gifted ones outside the top 500 range... :siam:[/quote]Hopefully the GE selection test is rigorous enough to include the naturally gifted over the trained ones. If not it'll become a vicious cycle of parents of the naturally gifted sending their kids for training just so they won't lose out to the trained ones.

Hmmmm .... i really dont understand how this \"jumping of grade\" works. What i understand is that only those who born in 1 Jan can choose to register the next grade, that is, eg. born in 1 Jan 2005 can choose to register P1 a year ahead (correct me if i'm wrong guys)

My dd has to \"downgrade\" when return from Aus. She attended Gr5 in Aus but was asked to attend P4 when return to Spore. Not because she cannot follow the syllabus but because of her age. The school said, there is no way to skip one grade, she must follow her age group. Poor dd, so confuse and ask me why she has to repeat 😞
My dd also \"downgrade\" 1 year when we return. But ok lah, dd is a Dec child n she soon forgot about it.

Perhaps MOE should have a GEP for those who are good with assessment books (just joking)
