GEP 2011 - Screening & Selection
-
My DS and his classmates said that GA paper was hard.

Just4Good:
Didn't realize that DS school has 71 children got into 2nd selection. 2 Big buses catered.. they appeared as if they were attending the school excursion

Mine DS school cater 1 bus for the kids whom parents are not sending to the school direct. I am not sure how many taking the selection test though.
The bus returned to the sch late about 1315hrs and some parents were unhappy about it. -
Breadandmuffins:
my DS described the general ability paper as some kind of \"maths and english mixed together\" type of questions.
It is a mixture of maths, english and science roll into one ! luckily no MT ! -
My DS said that he cannot finished the last few questions of GA1 due to lack of time. He said English was ok
-
All the best for their tomorrow Math paper.

Hihi firefly38.
Hi just888, met you at the 'Happy Call Korean Frying Pan' thread.. Nice to 'see' you here again! You have a P3 kid taking the GEP Selection Test?firefly38:
favianboy,
Can bring handphone there?
All the best to the P3 kids for the 2nd selections.
Yes.. my DS is taking. What about urs?
My DS1 is in P6 GEP and he has just finished his PSLE. He has COs (confirmed offer) from RI & HCI thru DSA, and will be accepting the offer from RI.
My DS2 is in P3 and he did not make it to Round 2 of GEP Test. DS2 is very different from his kor-kor, very playful and not focussed in his studies. Guess it's better for him this way, as it will require a great deal of maturity, independence & self-discipline to handle the rigorous demands of the GEP program, traits which I find still lacking in DS2.
Wishing your DS Best Of Luck and Great Success in his GEP Selection Test! -

Besides the \"traits\" of a GEPper that u see in your ds, can u kindly share with us your involvement as a parent in your ds1's GEP journey? I was told a true GEPper requires very little help from their parent(s). The projects done by the GEP kids all looked very cheem to me. -
My DS said English paper is ok but GA is pretty hard. Asked him to give example and he said...............forget liow

The GA questions are something like IQ questions. :? -

I think each individual kid have their own traits.
Thanks for your wishes.
My DS is those type of carefree type not sure if he can make it or not as we never prepare him or send him to those sch for training.
He in fact consoled himself that at least he got a chance to try the GA paper to see what is it about. -
It seems that General paper is more on logical IQ tests, combine both english and math. all are fun questions.
Hehe, my DD like this event, as many friends brought a lot of food, shared with each other, one of her friends brought 10 breads, all children were so exciting.
My DD told me some of parents were even more exciting, they kept asking kids how the tests looks like.
