actually i thot it was a gd scheme too, as it will be safer for the young children to eat inside classrm. my boy is so sotong and small sized. he will prob just buy from vending mach the juices and eat all the fried snacks, not proper meals as he isnt a rice-lovg person. but i guess they have to grow up just like all other kids in other schools 😞

Huh? They are scrapping the catered food scheme? I thought they had it as the canteen was too small? How are the P1s and P2s gonna fight with the bigger boys for food?

Alamak, now DS will have excuse to bring money and lose it, or worse, spend at the bookshop. And I would need to worry about the money getting stolen or extorted by "gangster" boys.

And packing food is too troublesome. He hates sandwiches and I don’t want to cook in the mornings.

        Bring the scheme back!

Can we all send in our petition to bring the catered food scheme back? Who to send to?

I noticed that there was no counter for the catered lunch & thought something was amiss. We were then told during the briefing that the school will be implementing staggered lunch hour for next year. I then asked one of the staff and he replied -- no more catered lunch.

            Different type of worry....sigh 🙏

theft or loss of $ cant be prevented but u can get ur boy to put emergency $ in the other pocket. but extortion?? wow, really makes me worried. hope the staggering means the older boys are in different timing

I feel differently. I think it’s a good opportunity for the kids to learn independence and not remain mollycoddled. They’ll spill food, overspend, buy rubbish…for a while. But they’ll learn to be more careful and look after themselves better in the long run.

How many schools cater food for their P1s anyway. Most P1 kids around the country buy their own food.

Except for the glass panels issue, I actually prefer for them to buy their own food.

Btw, for all DS going P1 who are smaller built. I was told that the size 26 PE shorts will come in about 2 weeks time. Will update once I get confirmation.

by the way, is those thomas bag too childish for P1 kids already?

and since they have lockers, is there still a need to buy those big ergo bags like SPI or Lego bags? thinkg of a smaller and lighter bag cos my boy so skinny

I will be very disappointed if the school scrape away the catering scheme. The staggered recess would mean that when all the P1 to P3 have their breaks the older boys would be still studying, wouldn’t the boys be disturbed by the noise and vice versa when the older boys have their breaks, the younger boys will be too distracted to concentrate? Some younger boys like to join their older brothers in activities like basketball, badminton during recess but with staggered recess they no longer able to do that. I am quite sure the younger boys will spend their money buying drinks and snacks instead of proper food. With the exisiting catering scheme, the boys already can’t wait to go out and play but because there are teachers and PV in the class to ensure they finish their food, no matter how, they will 乖乖 eat some food.

You will be surprised, the smaller built boys in my ds2’s class are actually the fiercer ones, they chase, pull and punch each other. Wherelse the bigger built boys don’t really bother, they will go out and play. You need to constantly remind your boy not to join them in their naughty acts and they will leave your son alone. Boys would be boys, they will be naughty and will be rowdy but afterall at P1 they cannot be that bad anyway. As for the older boys, just teach you little boy to recognise their badge colour and name, report to the teacher immediately to stop these bullies.
