Is SST having another Open House after the PSLE? Taking another look at the school may give him a better idea of whether that's what he wants. NJC is having a school tour on Oct 24.
I know there's an event on 24 Oct at SST, but it's only for those who have been given CO/WL. As all places are taken up under DSA already, why does the school still need to have an open house?

NJC having a school tour still makes sense since it takes in around 50% under DSA and balance 50% during the sec 1 posting exercise.

Hai, which means he was not even familiar with the DSA process when he applied? You were also not aware?

Did he apply for NJC under DSA also?

My boy applied both and he was prepared to accept either, and as parents, we just had to respect his choices.

SST is just an unknown step with no history. But with SST being a govt initiative, I doubt it will be poorly setup. Surely they would want to make it a success.

Did your child voice any opinions on this? Is the dilemma his or yours?
we kinda got the dates mixed up, we thought it was 26 November, same day as when psle results came out. Hai

my boy did not apply for NJC as we did not want to put so much stress on our kid, running here and there. I thought the camp was on the same day too?

I'm sure SST would not be a total flop, with NTU and NP professors mentorshop, advanced applied learning modules and the future@school status.

This delimma is actually his, as he wants to go to SST but does not know if it is actually a good school

Actually the NJC test is similar to SST's. So I doubt your child would have been stressed up. SST's camp was on 18July & 1st Aug, so depends on which day your child's SST camp was on. If his was 1st Aug, then yes, it clash with NJC's camp. My son's also, but he took his at SST a day before going for NJC's camp. This kind of thing - no harm asking if it's arrangeable.

Ya my son's friend took the NJC test. It was the HAST.

Since your kid got accepted to NJC, why dont he take the offer? Its a 6 yr IP programme.

                  good for him.

My son likes SST but his Princi, HOD & FT advised him to take the \"direct train\" for the 6-yr IP (easier & direct path to Uni).
The peak hours traffic jam at Clementi Ave 6 (busy link between AYE & PIE) is really \"HELL\".

                  Cheers!

                  Perth2020 :?

                    :?
The traffic along Bukit Timah/Dunearn/EngNeo also quite hellish, leh. But never hear people say they don't want to send their children to the HCI/NYGH/NJC/RGPS/NYPS bc of the jam.

Anyway, you do know that SST will be next to the current Singapore Poly in 2 years, right? It will not forever be at Clementi Ave 6.

So which IP school did your son's Principle/HOD/FT advise him to go for?

The Principal of SST was the youngest Education Officer to be promoted to the Superscale level in 2008. See excerpts below :

                        \"MOE promotes over 7,500, including its director-general

Thu, Apr 10, 2008, The Straits Times

THE Education Ministry (MOE) promoted more than 7,500 officers this year, including its director-general and one of its youngest principals to move into the upper echelons of the civil service.....

The list of promotions also included the youngest officer promoted to the superscale grade this year, Ngee Ann Secondary principal Chua Chor Huat, 41.

Mr Chua will be principal of the new School of Science and Technology. The institution is scheduled to open in 2010 and will offer a practical four-year programme leading to the O levels.

Mr Chua, who has been principal of Ngee Ann Secondary since December 2003, has been in the education service for 15 years.\"
