Shawny, you're a SAHM? Yup, it would definitely save your DDs a lot of time, not to mention the closer bonding forged driving them to and fro. Lucky kids! I was also from the Emerald Hill batch, never had a chance to be at the new campus. I only remembered Ms. Heng and the coutless donation drives she spearheded, so it was just give, give, give, but never had the opportunity to study at the new premises. But just as well, the old campus @ Emerald Hill held many fond memories for me 🙂

Yes, am SAHM. But you'll be surprised as my dd1 loves to take the school bus even in the mornings. There were several occasions when I was already at school (for other activties) during school-dismissal time and she refused to follow me home. She enjoys taking the school-bus home as she gets to chat and spend time with her friends who are in P3 too but not in the same class. I am sure your dd will love SCGS, just like we did!

Ferrying DD to school is not an option. DS goes to K1 at Kovan. So if fetch DD to school, whole family have to go alomg. Send DD to school then DS to school, then spouse to work.

        Ha ha....
I understand, guess it's whatever works for the family. Some friends call me 'cruel' (jokingly) when I tell them that dd takes the schoolbus and that it's okay for little kids to wake up earlier lah!

If you have a choice between SCGS and Henry Park, what would you choose?

I am an old girl and my son is in HPPS? I am now considering my girl’s option.

If logistics is not an issue, then I will choose SCGS cos it has an affiliated secondary school.

SCGS bec it's affiliated to a secondary school and is starting an IP programme soon.

                  Dimension & Kamom,

Being an old girl, it’s pretty much a ‘no-brainer’ for me. Why would I want to risk applying for a well-known school nearby where I stay when there’s a chance that I still may not be successful. Furthermore, that means I need to do PV duties to increase my chances.

Lastly, affiliation means alot to me. If my child doesn’t do well in her studies, she at least still has a better chance in getting into the secondary school than someone who comes in fresh from another school. I like the idea of my children continuing their secondary life amongst friends they have known for a long time. (Not that we don’t welcome new-comers)

At the end of the day, SCGS is a great school. Not necessarily the best, but I had a wonderful time there and hope my gals will enjoy theirs too!

SCGS is having dual track - IP and O Levels. The IP program takes in girls solely based on credits and not affiliation. But I am sure the girls taking the O levels track will benefit too.

Mainly there are no schools near my place that is good. Anyway, SCGS is affliated.
