Probably and it's their own company.... That was my 1st question to them... Imagine they could have bought a house 30 yrs ago at dirt cheap prices. They missed so many cycles. He said the govt didn't allow initially. When we were contemplating to sell, their finance person asked for the price as well as he might be interested.hi mmm,
Maybe it's becos rental is tax deductible? but yes, they probably have paid enough rent to own a house. I used to have a boss who rented also, even though she and her hubby make enough to buy their own apartment in a posh area. -
Just wanna check, if Rent out whole HDB do we apply approval from any HDB branch office? Or must go to Toa Payoh HDB hub only?

I think you can even apply online. http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10323p.nsf/w/RentOpenMktRentOutWholeFlat?OpenDocument -
Anybody living near HillView? The advertisement for Hillier is very aggressive!

yes you can apply online to lease out your flat. No need to go to hdb office. Beware, hdb do send their officers from time to time to make sure that you lease out to people whose information we sent in to them.
Yes starlight I saw their advertisement too! Good that we are gg to have another mall!!!

I was told the above too;
r u sure? this is not wat i was told. tt's why i want to check. they said if u owned HDB, u buy condo, u cannot stay in condo. but have to stay in HDB.micollh:
I can't find any further restriction after the 5 yr period. I think you can choose to stay at either one and rent out the other. Its your choice.
I have to stay in hdb but rent out the condo.
But this is never my preference; I would like to live in the condo and rent out my hdb flat.
Taken from HDB website under FAQ:

I own a private property and would like to reside there and sublet my HDB flat. Is this allowed?
A.
Owners may sublet their flat if they have met the minimum occupation period as follows:
3 years
Non-subsidised flat (flat purchased from the open market without a CPF housing grant) and the application for the purchase of the flat was received before 30 Aug 2010;
5 years
Non-subsidised flat (flat purchased from the open market without a CPF housing grant) and the application for the purchase of the flat was received on or after 30 Aug 2010;
Subsidised flat (flat purchased directly from HDB or from the open market with a CPF housing grant)
Flat owners who meet the eligibility requirements above and who concurrently own a private property with HDB’s approval, are allowed to stay in the private property and sublet the HDB flat.
However, prior approval from HDB must be obtained before they sublet the flat.

Out of curiosity, is it normal to get rejected 3 times for a first time young couple when applying for a BTO flat? I was chatting yesterday with an old friend (shes 26 btw) and she lamented about her successive failures to secure a nest somewhere in Yishun-one great stumbling block when trying to tie the knot. No flat, no ROM, no marriage.
3 years back, my brother tried BTO in Yishun. There wasn't a system of rejection, just queue number. At that time, there are many applicants who choose not to book a flat for various reasons like low floor etc... And try again. Not sure now... But unlikely HDB reject, most likely applicant reject or choose mature estates where BTO flat number is lower than Punggol etc...
Perhaps expensive DBSS, or EC will have a better chance, especially for 1st timers where queue number is definitely lower... :evil: -
any good website where i can do calculation on how much i need to pay (cash +cpf) for private house ? …how much of renovation usually one’s need for new unit ? condo usually will be charged more …
