Hi, I have been trying to access the Newton website for the last couple of days but couldn't seem to be able to find the site. Any idea what's going on?


Also, I've registered my daughter for the pm playgroup next year but due to some change in plans, may have to put her in am instead. Any advice?

My DD is starting PG (AM session) in Newton Kindy in 2012 as well. Just like you, I have not been able to access their website. I have yet to receive correspondence or information from them regarding orientation and starting of class.

Went to the Kindergarten Two weekends ago to check it out. Saw on the calendar of events orientation day is scheduled on 17 Nov for the 2012 intake. So think we will just have to wait till November.

So, meaning to say, it’s too young to send our N1 kids for enrichment classes after or before newton?

My younger son has been enrolled in N2 (AM session) for 2012. Thanks for updating information on orientation day. Glad I found this site as we’re relocating from the East closer to town so that older son can attend ACS, so lots of changes for us all, and this link is great to help us be as prepared for the new Kindy as possible.

Does school bus information get given out during Orientation? Any idea what fees are like?

What enrichment is available to N2 kids at Newton Kindy? I didn’t start my older son on enrichment till K1 as I wanted him to settle into school and keep to his lunch time nap till he was older, and mature enough to enjoy his enrichment.

on actual Orientation day itself (starts 9 am early morning),

a) bring along your child to school.
let your excited child greet her form Teacher (FT).
Read the orientation letter. The letter inside indicates - which class your child has been assigned to, by Principal.

FT will be waiting inside the class for your child - smiling and waiting to receive your child, with open arms & warm hugs. Basically, it is a 'Get to know your child' session.

you may highlight certain unique things about your child to her FT - example: food allergy to certain kind of food, or certain behavior. example: some kids can't eat prawns, because skin itchy. may clarify with FT any concern or issues that you have.

b) school bus operator (Auntie Ong) will be there.

you may ask what's the school bus fees $ charges per month to your house? what time she picks up your child go to school, what time she fetches your child home ?

when school re-opens next year January 2012 - for first week, you are allowed to 'tonbang' the school bus, ie. follow your child to school, explore the school bus route, discover how long is the journey to school. enjoy the ride.

c) go admin office, request for a copy of Food Menu (if you need) plus your child's class Timetable.

d) all in house Enrichment lessons Service providers will be stationed there too. May clarify with them (if need).

for N1 - no enrichment yet (too young).

for N2 - can choose any of the 3:-

Can I check how did you manage to get the AM class? I thought they give priority for the existing N1s PM session kids who want to trsf to AM in N2. Cos I also enrolled for N2 for my DD on the enrolment day in July 2011 and only manage to get the PM class which is actually quite a problem for me , logistically as I do not wish to put her on the sch bus.

I just called Newton. (Many thanks to phtthp for the number!)
They said we should receive the orientation letter within these few days. They say we should bring our child just in case we need to buy uniform on that day.

I think I will keep to PM for now… I like the fact that it is smaller and quieter in the afternoon. But the only disadvantage is that there are limited enrichments I can sign her up for.
