on the flip side, perhaps the success rate of such marriage would be higher as there will be lower chance that the china girl being conned by the guy on his financial situation.

I think it is the other way round. After marriage, the China girl will probably change her mind after living in Singapore for a while and realising the financial situation of the guy is nowhere fantastic by Singapore standard. She will then get PR/citizenship and then divorce and look for #2 more financially solid one.

No. They are flying here, staying for 2 months to match-make. No way for the prospective guy to pretend his financial situation and mislead the girl.

2 months is better than the current 1-2 weeks that guys spent in China?
2 months they stay somewhere arranged by the agency. Meet propective guys and ultimately, they will only see the same guy a handful of times before marriage. How are they to know the financial situation of the guy when they have no comparison (against Singapore \"daily\" standard of living)? I am sure the agency is not going to let them go with a few guys at any one time.

It is no doubt better than the current 1/2 weeks, but it will not solve the problem of comparison and change of heart in the long term after knowing the environment here. Unless the guy finds a rare gem like LOLmum's brother......

it is a business as far as the agency is concerned, just the same as maid agencies

more than 50 years ago, and earlier, so many immigrants from China came and settled in Singapore ...... any difference with all these 600 and more ?

Am reminded of Cao Zhi's poetic response to Cao Pi's challenge:
煮豆燃豆萁,
豆在釜中泣。
本是同根生,
相煎何太急!

tsk tsk
why so much stereotyping n haste to criticize? haiz.

I am not stereotyping. Not from my postings at least. I am saying it is no difference with more than 50 years ago ..... just a different era now, conditions different, parameters different ..... immigration for whatever reasons will always be there as long as the Earth still rotates.

I would think within the 2 months stay in Singapore, the girl would have visited the guy's home or even workplace.

She will then get PR/citizenship and then divorce and then use WC to pawned the man deep deep, getting his assets and savings plus $1 alimony, and look for #2 more financially solid one.

filled in the blanks for you

Even among friends and relatives we have at least 10 PRC brides/mistresses.. ..

Unfortunately no nice story to relate yet.. ...besides the 'unofficial' ones hanging around we've got 600 more to deal with.. :yikes:
:faint:
So far, those cases which I have encountered (friends, neighbors) etc are mostly success stories.. SG guy + PRC ladies.

However, none of these is via agency thou..

The answer is reproduce more singaporean babies.

The government doesn't want singapore be like a japan ageing population.
They want to prevent the ageing population. http://www.longcountdown.com/2007/12/14/japans-aging-population-problem-alternative-solution/
