 I agree!! I make sure I introduce all kinds of foods to my family... bread, potatoes etc.. so when prices of some go up, I just feed them others loh.. and I try to buy more of sale items.. thinking if I should invest in a small freezer during sale time.. so I can buy in bulk. My 2 boys eat like adults.. going to the wet mkt can no longer yield as much food... I try to diy for everything.. roast my own sio bak, make my own wantons, bake my own muffins... can't bear to buy from bakeries.

We used to earn less but still survive on single income.. now we r both working, but $$ still not enough!! 😞

actually baking yr own or cooking yr own may not be cheap. It may be cheaper to buy after factoring the PUB bills, cooking oil, seasoning, etc. It’s just that you can control the quality of food and variety.

Yes, making your own may not be that cheap. I was toying with the idea of making my own curry puffs ala OldChangKee but after doing my calculations - shortcrust pastry block, potatoes, chicken, gas, oil, effort etc, i decided to just buy one for my gal. Buying one is better than making so many and being forced to finish such unhealthy stuff.

Yes, everything is expensive now…a basket of food like ham, eggs, ice cream for eg can cost a shocking amount compared to few years ago for same thing.

The poor will suffer, the middle class will be squeezed.

Supposing the hawkers at food centre or coffee shop do not increase price, the quality used will be of lower grade. The oil used to cook may be of inferior grade too. This is unhealthy especially for couples who eat out for 3 meals. How can people be healthy eating such food on daily basis ?

                        Inflation is inevitable.

Problem in SG for many is wages r not keeping up with inflation.
Only way to beat dis is to earn more.
Don’t be over dependent on dis gahmen.
