[/quote]No lah. I work as a supervisor in a student care centre. My ex-student now in NUS High School , studying in Sec Two. Now I have three students waiting for the GEP result. They r very brilliant academically n socially. I always enjoy interacting with them n am amazed by their motivation to learn beyond the classroom. And the most important thing is that they have such good attitudes as well. It is such a great pleasure to know them. :grphug:
Were you teaching in GEP school? Can share what other experiences your ex-students had?david59:

No, I am referring to the GEP programme that starts in Pri 4 for those who are chosen. -
did you talk to their parents, ask - how did they groom them from young, to cultivate such excellent attitude in their child ?

My DS's classmates mostly think about playing... but they are really like to compare and compete.. but a lot are not 'sharing' type.. worry others get better grade or result compared to them...

my DS got the interest in books since he was 3 yrs old... he can sit down in a corner flipping through book while we looked around shop. We bought a lot of books which interest him, mostly science.
for my DD, she passed 1st round. She's not as 'study' type as her brother. The brain is used for non-academics things. She liked to explore what interest her. In academic, as long as can pass, enough for her. So still waiting anxiously for the 2nd round result...
DD never really touched those books that we bought for DS... -

actually the gep is not a homogeneous group. ever observed a grp project. there was a natural leader, another with ideas, another good at implementing the ideas, finally one who was totally not interested.

gep kids or mainstream kids, theyโre the same in terms of playfulness, social skills, general characteristics, etc. Kids are just kids, gifted or not
Only difference is their processing speed, able to process info at faster pace and a bigger hard disk space to store more data -
Seems like no news yet. No one posted about receiving the legendary big yellow envelope

And to add, these GEP kids are gifted as per the criteria MOE has set (i.e. English, Math, logical reasoning, patterns, top 1% of those who take the screening tests...), there are definitely other kids who are gifted in other ways not measured by the GEP selection tests...!gep kids or mainstream kids, they're the same in terms of playfulness, social skills, general characteristics, etc. Kids are just kids, gifted or not

Spoken to the P when picking kid up today. P said she has not received anything yet (she should be the first one to know right). So perhaps MOE release it by batches...? Like Round 1?? -

According to my dd, IQ test much more detailed, GA questions aren't quite similar to IQ test questions. Although I doubt she remembered much of those IQ test questions since that was quite some years ago.Not sure if GEP test is an alternative to Mensa or IQ tests cos I have never seen any. You have?
I did ask her what are the differences but she couldn't relate in a way that I could comprehend. So I gathered it just not the same. Alright, she doesn't have a bright mummy
