Just to share something very frustrating after reading the e-mail! :frustrated:

Has e-mailed my DD1's Teacher 2 weeks ago and got the reply only this morning (too busy 🤷 only free now after Science paper this morning :scratchhead: :scratchhead: ) regarding certain Science topics and also to check why my DD1's class was not given any form of past year papers for revision

Her reply,\" Dear Mrs. XXX - I have given the class the school past year exam papers (2009 & 2010) to practice since last Thursday till yesterday (Wednesday). I think the papers are sufficient for them to practise on what I have taught them in class.

Moreover, every school teaches different topics in lower block Science so it will be very confusing for the children if given other school papers for practices.\"

:yikes: sounds very \"logical\" yeah  so why are we parents buying or downloading free past year top school papers for kids?

Frankly speaking, I don't agree to what she has said and I definitely not buying her ideas of doing only own school exam papers! Anyway, the reply has came 2 weeks late and I won't be bother to reply her after reading.
Actually I also finding hard to coach my p3 dd Science..firstly the school teach them lesser then what it has in the Science guide book bought from popular bookstore..so coaching my dd base on the guide book confuse her and she cannot remember so much thing especially those not taught in the school!!!..
And I have to strike off those qns from past yrs papers which the topic not yet taught in school yet....like plant systems and life cycles.. :skeptical:

        Hi Mummy vlim,
:hi5: This was what I have been doing for the past year papers too and later on DD1 did the crossing out of not tested questions on her own... 😉

Seriously speaking, I really can't rely on this Science T and am :xedfingers: 🙏 that both my DDs will not have the \"GOOD LUCK\" to meet her during their Primary school education with the school 😂

Come to think abt it.. my DS's school does not ever use other school exam papers for revision for any subject ! Honestly, I wld prefer to use assessment papers , esply those cover topics by topics, for revision.
Too many variation between diff schools .

My son’s school did one paper for sci and two papers for maths. This is the first time they did.Yesterday only the Maths T teach the sci about the internal parts of the egg.Yesterday no sci.Maths T said not sure this will come or not for exam.

Personally, I found the pastpapers best. Assessment books has some pastpaper qns and some not coming for their exam.
But the problem is we have to choose the qns that they already studied. After preparing Sci I feel very stress until now.I am not satisfying with the revision.Alot of topics and my son forgot the important points.I am not confident enough how he will do the exam.

P6 teachers will usually let their P6 pupils do other schools' Prelims Exam papers to revise for PSLE. For other levels (P1-P5), most teachers will just let their pupils practice on the school's exam papers for past 2 years (2009 & 2010) for revision. If parents want their kids to have more practice before the exam, they can purchase other school's exam papers from vendors outside (guess the teachers know that most parents will do that)!

That was what I have observed in my DSs' school (DS1 in P6, DS2 in P3).

Sighzzz…dd just got back her Math SA2 paper. Didn’t do very well, only managing 83/100. Looks like I have to be on tenterhooks until all papers are back, then can relax (or probably die of heart attack by then)…

                  Dear Motherhen,

I think her math results are good... I dun even know if my DS can score that high for Maths. Most importantly, she had done her best. Take it easy. 🙂

Afraid your DD may be the one on tenterhooks, if you continue to stress her by having such high expectations of her at such a tender age.. I have promised my DS2 that I would give him a reward, if he gets >80 marks for all his subjects. DS2 managed to get >80 marks (low 80s) for 3 subjects only, but I will still give him a reward, as I know he has tried his best! JMHO..

Hi silverhorse, thank you for your kind words.

Of all the papers in SA2, she said Math was the easiest. So, to be honest, I was expecting 90 (minus some careless marks, which always happens). I now shudder to think of her Chinese paper. She said main paper was \"ok\" and 作文 was \"horrible\".
