:congrats: to everyone selected for GEP!

I was hesitant abt letting dd join the prog 2 yrs ago when she was selected but decided to trust her judgement. no regrets now - she loves her school, her friends (the kids in the GE classes are very close knitted), her teachers and the prog. ๐Ÿ˜‚

which sch is your girl in?

My dd attends chinese enrichment. No tuition for other subjects. So far she is coping with GE syllabus (not topping std like when in p1-3 lah but more than 80% and she's happy with that, so am I ๐Ÿ˜„ ). she did not ask for tuition for other subj.
Coping well in GEP without much enrichment.

              I'm impressed, Neko. :celebrate:

Hi all! New to this forum. ๐Ÿ™‚ my DS received the yellow envelope on Friday and is ecstatic about getting through to GEP. We didn't send him for tuition, enrichment or training and although he has all along been precocious, we are surprised and happy for him that he has been selected.

However, like many mummies here, I struggle with the whole 'big fish small pond', 'small fish big pond' conundrum. He has always been one of the top in his current school and we are learning to set realistic expectations once he enters the new stream next year.

How are you selecting the right school with the right fit for your child? I am keen on putting ours in a non-SAP school as we would prefer not to burden him with HCL. We are hoping for ACS as 1) we are Christians, 2) he is keen on joining their chess team and lastly, 3) his m grandfather was from ACS & p grandfather is a Methodist. Both hope to see him don the ACS uniform. What is the likelihood of him gettin into the school of his choice?

One more thing- what about the culture shock? ๐Ÿ™‚ My DS is from a neighborhood school v v near our place. I think the new school will be such a diff environment for him to take in. Also, will kids compare the wealth and ability of each other's parents / family?

Finally, what about their ability to blend w the mainstream? Some people, I have read, ostracize and make fun of the \"Geppers\". How has your child, if he or she is in GEP, coped with this? ๐Ÿ™‚
