He is a smart kid, able to grasp concepts quickly, but lacks motivation when it comes to working hard.

Its not unusual that smart kids can tend to be a bit lazy.
My husband is smart, so he reckon that he'll only need to spend only 50% hardwork and can get 75% returns, and always on the lookout to take shortcuts as it is deem more 'efficient'.

Today, you can get pretty good \"ergonomic\" bags from Popular at about $30+..

The thing is that when they claimed to be 'ergonomic', how genuinely 'ergonomic' do we know they are? Or they are only using that term to rip us off?

I once paid $80 for these so-called ergo bags. One of them was torn at the corner after less than 1 yr and the other was discarded because it was simply too bulky and heavy even without the books in it.

What we do now is to get them something simple and affordable like Sierra fullpack. Anything that cannot fit into the bags will be carried in A4 folder bags.

So parents if you ask me, buy if you can afford. otherwise, I am skeptical about the benefits of ergo bags.

Be careful with those. Although they have shoulder straps, they are not suitable for children to carry on their shoulders and back. The extensible handle can hurt the child's back if he/she attempts to put on the shoulder straps.

When do you think is a good time for children to use mechanical pencils?

I personally prefer them because they don’t require sharpening, but they tend to be harder for young children to use and maintain. P1 and P2 kids should stick to 0.7mm leads.

I bought a shinkansen school bag from Isetan sale at $43 and that is the lightest I can get. Today, also visited the crosscom showroom and was introduced to their bags too, not so light like the one i bought but I find the clip makes an easy task to close the bag. Very pricey though, just like the ergo desk and chairs. Wonder if there are any alternatives other than kinder fun.

You can check out the \"Pop Kids\" ergo bag from Popular. The last I checked it was about $35. Very lightweight too, with top open flap that allows good access to the bag's contents. Almost 2 years and counting now.

My 6-yr-old daughter kept breaking her mechanical pencil leads when writing with it, and I thought it's her fault that she used too much strength! Now that you say it, I'm glad I didnt chide her over it 😛

An alternative to mechanical pencils are those bullet/cartridge types. They are thicker and harder to break.

When buying so called \"Ergo\" bags, personally, beside looking at the contour cushions that supports the bag(how do we know they r really good for backs as we just take it as it was claimed), weight is the top priority.

We have infact checked out those that cost $80 to more than $100 but they were heavy! I cant imagine how my son is going to carry it when it was filled up with books!

Finally, we decided on the lightest bag that we can find called Campro (from Mustafa) which only cost $30+. But we are not sure how durable it is but I think it looks good enough visually. 😄
                        Cheers!
