My girl had started her period for one year but she is only 146 cm tall. I am 160 cm and my hubby is 165cm tall. Any idea how to grow taller?

Based on u and your hb's ht, her potential ht is 156cm.

How did you calculate the potential height?

          For a gal, it’s (father’s height-13+mother’s height)/2. For a boy, it’s (mother’s height+13+father’s height)/2.

This is the formula given by my boy’s endocrinologist. Factors such as diet and nutrition etc will affect the final height.

hi mashy, sorry i don't have time look at earlier pages. May I know why your DS had to start on growth hormone therapy at such a young age? My boy is very short. He's the shortest boy in his K1 class. But my mum said boys can catch up during puberty stage. He's a also a very poor eater. Based on your formula, he will be short 😞

He was diagnosed with low growth hormone and small
Pituitary gland. We monitored his growth with the dr over a yr, did MRI and saw the small gland plus his blood test results. So eventually the dr recommended growth hormone therapy. His potential height is 172cm so that’s our target. Now he is less than 3%.

mashy, thanks for the info. So, does it mean if my DS’s PD doesn’t require him to do the test, he’s fine and I don’t have to worry? Or I must initiate for the test?

My PD also said not to worry etc, some grow later. We decided enough is enough when he got even shorter than the shortest gal and one head shorter than the boys. We went to kkh and did the tests. Initial blood test shows low growth hormone so we went polyclinic to get subsidized rate and wait for the next appt which is 6 mths later.

What is the potential ht of your boy? Mine is also a poor eater. We had to see dietician and feeding clinic to address that.

i see… so I have to make appt with kkh myself. He’s also one head shorter than the boys. Are there any side effects from taking the hormone jab? Based on the formula you provided, his potential ht is 171cm. Wrt him being a poor eater, my PD told me to ignore him, if he doesn’t finish his food within 30minutes, clear it. Once he knows the feeling of hunger, he will eat. We tried. It didn’t bother him at all. He can survive on half a small burger till the next meal!

Yes, u need to make your own appt. So far he hasn’t had any side effects. The common ones they said is the bones grow out of place and need to pin it down. Also spinal growth too. But the dr will monitor every 3 mths. May also have headaches and water retention in the brain if prescibed too high a dose but these are reversible.

My son used to only eat a select group of food. No meats. He has improved a lot now and started eating better. He will now eat beef, chicken and fish. Besides the removing of the food after 30mins, also ensure there is at least one type of food that he will like. Think nobody wanna have a whole meal of food that u dislike. Work on the food he dislike slowly. Don’t force. Also have meals together with no distractions. My boy can also survive on just water.

Just get him checked out. I think mothers know best. Decide what’s best for your kid. I also recommend u to read this book ‘the short child’. U can borrow from library. It lists the reasons for a short child and the growth hormone therapy. My son is getting daily jabs but he takes it in his stride. He is so happy whenever he grows taller so we are glad we decided to do it. Bear in mind it’s not a cheap therapy though.
