Hi my child is under TAS.finding it really good

My daughter has joined TAS for a mth.... she has only done grammar, compo, open-ended compre n grammar cloze.... they don't do vocab. Any TAS mothers can comment?
My girl enjoys alot. But I worry abt the lack of exposure to vocab.

They do cover vocab once in a while and they will give out notes to go along which is very useful. They do cover quite a lot in 2 hours and vocab is something I feel that our kids also need to pick up on their own because there are just too many words to learn. But I heard they are coming out with a vocab book, perhaps then they might focus a bit more on vocab. Their vocab book should come with vocab notes that they used to have with their worksheets.

I see from DS1's worksheets that they do cover vocab, and at times punctuation also. But for the past month or so, they are concentrating more on SA2.

When closer to exams, how is it like, do they do mock papers? Or is it still 1 hr comp, and 1 hr for paper 2?

DS is with the P2s. for the past month or so, they did mock papers. There was still spelling. I understand last week they stopped doing the papers already.

Do you mean if the regular classes are continuing, except that it's holiday period?

If so, yes. Except for the day when they have their camp, I believe their classes run as per normal. However, if parents do not wish their kids to go for classes during holidays, they can opt out. Payment for the holiday period is separate.

I have not, and will not bring DS1 for TAS classes during holidays. Much as he enjoys the class, the whole family wants a break during holidays.

If you are talking about special holiday programs, they do have. They put up details in the forum.

Can I ask why do some parents send their kids for TAS and TLL for English? I sent mine for TAS and find it enough but I heard some parents sending their kids to both, makes me a bit scared. Do I need to? I don’t think so but yet at the same time when I hear about this…

Anyone sends your kids to both? Can share what are the benefits of doing so?

In my opinion, I think it is because TAS works more on the basics and foundations whereas TLL focuses on more \"jhim\" levels... My girl is with TLL and I have to do all the basic grammar rules etc with her myself... The stuff from TLL are all more advance and difficult.

So it's up to the parents to assess the needs of their children...
