Mandeville Music School - Discussion

sautille:
Hi sautille,My children are with Mandeville and this is what I understand:
Mandeville's ensmeble classes are categorised into elementary, primary, intermediate, advanced and diploma levels, catering to students of different standards. e.g intermediate ensemble comprises students at ABRSM Grades 6 & 7 levels.
The ensemble classes are conducted by the same teachers. They have 2-3 teachers for each ensemble (depending on size of the class).

Any good teacher to recommend for violin lesson at Mandeville? You can PM to me. I plan to sign up at Mandeville under beginner level for my 6 yr old.
Thanks. -

Please share . Don't worry will take comments objectively. Was thinking of checking out the place tomorrow. -
Just checked out the school. Took me 5 mins to write it off.
1. The counter Filipino girl super snobbish. Poor public relation
2. The location is bad for kids. The whole mall is an immersion in materialism. I know many music schools are located in malls but this place special target is kids. Poor kids are constantly stimulated to crave. Very unhealthy environment.
3. They want to charge double for trial. I think that’s crazy. I’m assessing them as much as they are assessing my child.
Just my opinion :) -

I didn't know trials are for music schools to assess a potential student? I thot it's for us parents to see how the child takes to the lesson and how he reacts to that teacher, and whether we like that teacher's style. -

Think I was attended by this (Filipino) lady before. However, on my 2nd attempt to enquiry again, another lady (probably a local) was nice and patient. I was put on a \"waitlist\" for their baby class starting in Mar/Apr I think.

Just called up the school to enquire for baby music class… i find the person who talked to me sounded a little ‘arrogant’… When I asked her what’s the minimum age that a child can pick up suzuki volin, she replied ’ 3 1/2’. But I remembered seeing 2 1/2 on the website and asked her back ‘I thought it’s 2 1/2, according to the website?’ She replied ‘I said 3 1/2. You see wrongly’. She rebutted with an attitude. Sometimes these receptionists turn people off even though the school may be good. Sigh.
