I started my girl when she was 6 but she somehow could not learn much so we left. Picked up Eng enrichment when she was 8 but the centre we enrolled previously could not really help. You are lucky you got it right for your ds in preschool and primary enrichment.

It has been a long journey for me before I found the right one in TAS. But glad finally found one at least.

Now am on a journey finding the right one for Math for her..sigh. You send your boy for
      Math class?
As long as it works, not fear too late. Anyway, I think that your girl is doing well. Not sure if my kid can get that kind of score when he's your girl's age.

So far haven't. P1 maths seems okay. Am starting him next year. Although mulling if I'm doing the right thing (ie too much enrichment?). Would hate to turn him off, but still want him to have support if needed.

I think he will do well if he has started at P1:)

For math, I started my girl end of P1 but from P3 onwards she started struggling. If your boy likes math, I think he should be ok going for classes, maybe you could try out some
holiday prog for him and see how he finds it.

Diff kids take to enrichment classes differently, my boy was ok with more but my girl
would grumble and complain, she likes to have her own time to read and relax so I took away her science tuition and swimming classes to give her a bit more space.

DS1 doesn’t like classes. He figures it’s time away from cartoons, toys and shopping. So far he seems to be doing ok in maths - I gave him assessment books to do, mostly careless mistakes only. Anyway, he’s a funny boy. He will reject instantly at the first sound, but then he’ll be okay in class.

                Hi,

Why do you all mention that Creative Horizons Language Centre is good? Are they effective in enouraging children to read/write or it's any other tuition centre using assessment book during their lesson? Are their charges expensive?

                Thanks for sharing..

I too think Creative Horizons is good. I sent my dd there this year as she was having problems with compre and cloze. This year she fared quite well in these 2 components and am really glad. In Creative Horizons there is very little work. They teach skills in those various components and I find this very helpful. Classes are also very fun according to dd.
As the centre in Eastgate is new, class size is also very small.

                Hope this helps.

                Hi sammifan,

Does Creative Horizons covers Creative Writing?

                Thanks.

Hi, I just saw your post. My kids go to Creative Horizons too and yes, they do creative writing. They focus on skills for creative writing like characterisation, setting and vivid vocab. Plot structures and the planning process is covered too.

One thing I like is that they DON’T just give word lists to the kids which I think makes them dependent on them. Then in school, they are lost when they aren’t provided word lists. The good part is they know what goes into making a compo an interesting one. The plot can be simple but the story is really narrated to capture interest.

I intend to send my boys there next yr, coincidentally, the founder was my ex-JC GP tutor.

Any one intend to send kids there for K2 and P2 ?? with 3 kids they can start new class. Me aiming for Eastgate brance, nearer my place.

If have sufficient kids we can ask them start a new class.
