Toxic118, if NHPS don't have vacancy for your P1 boy, will you still go ahead? Do think about it. I remember my DS's year, Rosyth's principal was very accommodating to this request when the parents brought up this issue but did not hear anything from NHPS.

Hi, how come nobody mention about TNS? Did anybody know how many get in to GEP in this school?

co-ed versus boy / girl school
R Cat vs Protestant vs non-religious
government school vs aided school (SAP)
with affiliation vs no affiliation to sec school (think IP)
consideration for children’s children for priority admission for the next generation
distance from home to school -
One of my neighbour’s boy got into GEP last year but he was telling me it was very presurrizing. To the extent now he is regretting his decision to let him go into GEP…
My take is that GEP produces good crop of students and schools invest more resources in them… but if the kid cannot take the stress, better not risk it. -

My alternative view is family support is also important. No matter what, a P4 needs emotional support and guidance when the going gets tough. If parents are mentally not strong to support, the child will definitely face more hurdles.

I think it makes a big difference if a kid was hot-housed or not & if I is the child or the parent that wants him/her to enter a GEP school.

I was from St. Nicks, spent 11 years there, and was a Roman Catholic by birth. I am thus well aware of the way Catholic schools operate.
I think it is a strong personal and family preference to have both our boys attend a Protestant school aligned to our beliefs/ theology. ^^
My parents put me in St Nicks due to their religious beliefs. We are looking to putting our offsprings into ACS if possible for the same reason. Thanks for helping to clarify issues on religion. I am sure the other mummies and daddies will find it helpful.
Our reasons again 1) Religious affliction/ values, 2) Chess team, 3) Non- SAP, 4) kid's strong personal preference for the school, 5) School culture being what our son can relate to and feel comfortable in, 6) All boys school. -
