i rang up NUS High.

a) to address your concern - can your daughter still have any chance get in NUS High?

here is the reply:-

\"We do not take in Year 2 admission. Admission to Year 3 is based on the selection tests and interview outcome for shortlisted candidates only. The PSLE score is secondary, since past.\"


b) what Secondary 1 Science subjects are available ?
here is official reply:-

\"start from Year 1 - it is compulsory for students to take all 3 sciences in depth (pure Chemistry, pure Biology, pure Physics).

We do Not offer any Combined Science nor General Science, offered by mainstream Secondary schools.\"

Thank you very very much for this information. But from Year 1 the subject they learn is different from the mainstream secondary school so will there be any gaps. I'm afraid my girl can't cope well. Maybe i should contact them.

我周末去了NUSH的一位学生家取经，NUSH的S1的物理，化学，生物是各自分开的，不是合并在一起的，她们孩子是今年的物理奥林匹克和化学奥林匹克双料冠军，当年PSLE282分，从他们家拿到了物理的textbooks和workbooks，这样中学1/2年级的物理整套的教科书，参考书，以及习题本很齐全了，一套textbook是中1和中2合并用的，they use one combined textbook for their year 1 and year 2，这话就是在这样的情况下出来的。可惜的是生物，化学，数学的textbooks和workbooks都刚送人了！论坛里面有没有S2/S3的孩子，可以把化学和生物的textbooks和workbooks借给我们吗？

NUSH在S1时候，数学，物理，化学，生物这四课，就学完Secondary Express的S1/S2内容，然后在S2就学完O level的内容，是很超前学习的。restless妈妈的小女儿如果跟着学校的进度，自己在课外可能需要赶进度提前学习了。我这里还保存着2010年和2011年在S2阶段DSA的两位学生家长的一点经验和教训，明年你小女如果去DSA，我发给你参考。

能考进IP学校的孩子们是属于学习能力比较强的,有天份的,所以学校会加快学习的步伐,把省下来的时间也利用在许多额外的学习,例如哲学和领导理论,到国外与其他学校交流浸濡等

buy their past year papers & Sec 1 workbook experiments for (3 Sciences + Maths, English, Chinese, etc). Let your girl practise at home. closely monitor her progress. from there, you’ll know how near / far off she is.

As a rough guide, I was told that the structure of the science program at NUSH is as follows:

by year 2 - complete O level syllabus
By year 4 - complete A level syllabus
Years 5&6 - university modules, research and attachment programs, Olympiad etc.

这个不怪你，我是1995年移民新加坡的，这么多年来英文没有学好不说，连原本的中文也说不好了，实在很惭愧。

是这样的，我孩子在PSLE之后基本都是度假心情，10月份以阅读书籍为主导。进NUSH的那些孩子都是十分聪明的，我孩子很淘气，我担心他在S1掉队，所以在11月和12月就每天安排2个小时提前学习S1的课程。而S1的课本要到12月22日才可以买，所以我在跟NUSH的同学们借书。

因为知道学校超前教育很多，所以才斗胆那样建议你，很冒昧的。
