Was just wondering.. if my DD has always attended a non-GEP school near NYPS, will they take that into consideration that she has always been traveling this distance even though we don't stay near the school?

My choice are either NYPS or RGPS. DD is from a girls school, was wondering whether we will stand a better chance with RG. Btw.. We stay at SengKang šŸ˜ž

NYPS and RGPS are both in the same area, your DD has a better chance with RGPS since she comes from all girls school, if she is from non SAP all girls school, it is a perfect match!

Case point 1 - Friend's son from co-ed SAP school opted for all boys non SAP school last year, only filled in 1 choice, with lots of reasoning etc, however in the end posted to co-ed SAP school which she didnt choose at all!

Case point 2 - Another friend's daughter from all girls non SAP school opted for popular co-ed SAP school as first choice, all girls non SAP school as second choice, and was posted to all girls non SAP school. She shared that she should have just saved her sleepless nights by opting directly for the all girl's non SAP school!

I'm here because of my niece, helping her make a decision but such a headache!

So it seems that the most important criteria/reason is the pre-GEP school, ie girl's school --> girl's school, SAP school --> SAP school.

If you really keen on NYPS, you can just put in NYPS as the choice. Leave the 2nd choice blank. But at the same time write the reasoning in the form (example: near to current school which is near to your office, etc).
that's what I did for DS when he insisted to go to all boys school and CHS is the nearest...
hey that's like what i did last time too.. just include a note to say why the first choice is important to you. i think it really works! 😃

Just to add to the confusion, my dd went from non sap all girls school to a sap co-Ed school, far away from my house :scratchhead:

Mvm, my DD is caught is the same situation. She is from a non-sap all girls school, NY is a sap co-Ed school. I am only worried about the HCL (if she gets in).. Don't think she can cope šŸ˜ž

Felinej, have faith. My dd was in ny, we are a non mandarin speaking household ( I did Malay in school) and my dh is a potato, and my dd got A* for Chinese and merit for hcl. The exposure in the school makes a lot of difference.

My goodness, really confusion x confusion. I am so glad that I do not hv to go thr such stress. To go or not to go ( into GEP) is oreli stress. To think of which school to opt, and having nitemares while waiting for the result, this is torturing !

Let the child decide. We werent sure whether she should go to gep coz we were happy with her school. But she insisted she wanted and chose her own school! If the conviction is there, they will work for it.

Mvm, if it's not too personal, mind if I asked why didn't u opt for a girls' school since yr DD was from one?
