My teacher has said that if you want to try for Methodist Girls and you aren't from the affliated primary school, it is better you do not try it. She even gave me an example.

      Example:
A girl named Mary is a methodist, not from methodist Girls Primary and scores 256 in her PSLE. Another girl named Alyssa not a methodist, not from MGS(primary) scores 259. Both girls put MGS as their first choice. Mary will make it into MGS and there is only 10% chance for Alyssa to get in even though her score is higher than Mary's. She said that the school will put the methodists in before others.

She also told me that even though the COP is 254, you should get at least 259 if you want to get through.

My teacher said that the school will choose the students. So this is incorrect??? :?

That's incorrect. At the S1 Central Posting Exercise, all the computers at MOE will look at is your PSLE T-score. So the girl with the higher T-score will get in over one with a lower T-score.

The school has no say. After the S1 Central Posting Exercise is complete, students may appeal and at that point schools will have say over which appeal students it wants to admit.

my friend’s dd got into rgs (2010) and her score was just 1 point above the cop.

as long as my score is above the cop of my school of choice, i would definitely go for it.

it is just a matter which one you wish to put as 1st choice if you qualified for both, mgs or crescent.

I am a strong supporter of Crescent but MGS offers greater advantage because of the affiliation to ACJC and ACS I. A two point advantage is useful and parents have less to worry for the next 6 years. For that matter, any sec school with affiliation is useful if the student does not take higher MT.

Both my girls are from MGS (P). MGS has very gd parents support. Their curriculum are very all rounded and school always update parents on the events and happenings. Moreover if your girl choose to go MGS (S) this yr, she will be offer to do IB at ACS (I) in 2014 when she Sec 3 when the school goes IP. Do go into their website for the latest update on this. Cant say much about Crescent cause no friends or relatives study there.

                        Hi,

                        This thread has been silent.

Would like to know what the opinion is in 2023. O-level comparison for non-affiliated student.

Is it worth paying more fees to MGSS for the 2 points for JC entry? For the four years it will be a difference of 15k or more.

                        Appreciate any comments.
