Travel: Australia - Gold Coast

Can i check with you guys? This is my first time bringing my family to gold coast. Is it easy to hail a cab in gold coast? Cos i don’t intend to rent a car, as i afraid i might lost the way. For example: maybe from movie world or curumbin wildlife is it easy to find cab back to hotel? Thank you.

Taxi fare there is very high. Maybe you can loan a GPS if you decide to drive instead. It’s pretty easy to drive around GC. I don’t see any taxi stand at movie world but there is a bus stop. I see many locals taking the bus back (there is a last bus after the world is closed) from Wet n Wild. However, I can’t advise on where the bus is heading to. I understand that there is transfer between the theme parks and certain hotels. Maybe you can find out more from the hotel you are staying.

Btw, most shops in the malls (including Pacific Fair and Harbour Town shopping outlet) are closed at 5 p.m., even on weekends. Late night shoppings till 9.30 p.m. is only on Thursday.

By the way you mean all the shops almost closed at 5pm., mean at nite nothing much to do there… only thu then close late…

Yup, nothing much to do at night. Surfers Paradise is still quite lively cos there are still people dining there. However, all shops will be closed by 5 pm.


We went to Pacific Fair but no time to go harbour town. There are mainly fashion shops in Pacific Fair but not to our liking.

Nope, didn't shop at Surfers Paradize. We spend the day going to the world etc so didn't shop in the day. Went to Pacific Fair on Thurs night but quite disappointed. Australia is 2 hrs ahead of us.

If you want to buy their local products or crafts, you should go to Carrara Market during the weekends. Shops in shopping malls are generally branded stuff, nothing extraordinary.
