b) since it is compulsory to do Triple Sciences at NUS High - does it mean that each student has to do 3 industry attachment projects, ie.

for Physics subject - need to do 1st attachment (example: to an Engineering company) ?

A) Students are encouraged to source for internships on their own, whether by approaching relevant organisations or by proposing independent work. However, the Office of Research, Innovation, and Enterprise also collates available research projects and sends regular updates to the studentry calling for interested students, while the Office of College Counselling provides internship opportunities such as work attachment at hospitals, hospices, museums, and others.

B) No; the graduation requirement is that students complete one Advanced Research Project in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, <em>or</em> Physics, preferably in Year 5 but definitely by Year 6. Students can also take up other Independent Research Projects of comparable standard in any subject, whether through traditional attachments like the Science Mentorship Programme, Nanyang Research Programme, Young Defence Science Programme, Science Training-in-Action Programme and Humanities & Social Sciences Research Programme, or through self-initiated projects. These research projects are reflected on the graduation transcript, including awards, publications, and participation in science fairs like the SSEF/ISEF, International Student Science Fair, and other industry forums.

Hi, may I ask if you are current student in NUSHS, which year ? Yesterday went to popular & national library but can't find the 3 reference books you had mentioned. Are they only available in NUSHS book store ? Do you mind if you can give me the full name of the books ? I am not a current NUSHS student, but suffice it to say that the school is as old as my education.

Try the Popular branch at Bras Besah and look under the advanced texts section. You should find a fair selection there. NLB carries similar selections. The names I mentioned are authors of the respective books. A quick Google search should give you what you need.

My personal take is that there is no need to make a conscious, excessive effort to study these books prior to entry. More often than not, these books serve as reference texts rather than actual course content. Part of the fun of the NUSHS system is ostensibly the development of independence by letting students rough it out with the curriculum. It may be tough and it may be daunting, but he/she who makes it through the curriculum alone comes out better prepared than if they were trying to rush ahead the entire way.

The same goes for sourcing for projects and internships, which was mentioned in another post above. The school will actively push opportunities to students when appropriate, but it is good to take the chance to develop skills like writing up cover letters and submitting CVs. These things may not seem significant while in school, but they are crucial for school-leavers to secure employment or places in universities. It is, for example, not impossible to take on multiple high-level research projects, or to intern at an A*STAR RI at Y2/3. Note, however, that possibility is always contingent on capability first.

a) if there are mainstream students from Secondary IP schools outside who wish to seek transfer into NUS High in year 3 and 4 onwards - do you forsee any other potential problem(s) arising in any aspect, besides having to catch up with syllabus academically ?

b) in NUS High - is CCA compulsory ?
if Yes, is it sufficient to just take one CCA - since i heard that both school work and projects are very heavy in this school, as curriculum is rigorous & intensive going?

c) is there any character building programme in place at NUS High ?
if Yes, what kind of activities do students get engaged in ?

d) is the NUS High boarding school open to foreign students only, or local students can also stay there ?

1 set of PE attire (once a week)
3 set of informal uniform (3 set for 4 days)

For shoes, no need to be completely white, school is not very strict on this as long as they are not flashy

One other tip, if you want to avoid the crowd during matriculation, you can get the uniforms directly from InTrend Uniforms, a shophouse located along Geylang Road, opposite Lorong 24. It is NUSH's official uniform supplier. You can try out the uniform leisurely.
