Justsay, is it allocate by level? Sounds like a new concept... So who would the P for A and B?
Not mentioned. Present vice principals ? -
I guess there is no need for the P to announce this "change".
Don’t need to worry…He is just saying that he is allocating one vice principal to focus in management half of the school and another vice principal to focus in managing another half of the school. This is not uncommon in large organisation. Is just how he organises in the management of the school. Nothing new and certainly you don’t have to worry that in future there is will be two RVs for psle students to choose. That will be confusing. -
My son got 250 and interested in nan hua. I m thinking of RV as first choice (last yrs COP was 253). He did not do HMT in PSLE. His Chinese is not strong but he managed A. He said RV 80% gals. Hope to hv some views on 1) Risk of putting RV as 1st choice 2) Will he be out of place due to Chinese in RV or Nanhua 3) How about his chances if ACS Indept is first choice instead of RV? Appreciate. Tsss.

1. RV is about 2/3 girls and 1/3 boys. Last year, they have a list for sec 1 and it was, 2 pages of girls and 1 page of boys.
2. I am not sure what risk you are refering to. Usually, people put the choices of schools from highest COP to lowest COP if they have no preference of the school they want. For example, Nan Hua has a COP of about 10 points lower than RV. If you put Nan Hua as first choice, then there is no point putting RV as second choice already because most likely you will get into Nan Hua.
3. With 250 score, if you choose ACSI, you will most likely be put in the O level track and not IP track. However, if you choose RV and manage to secure a place, you will definitely be in IP. His chance of ACSI is high but as I say, most likely he will be place in O level track. But he will have a chance to work harder and get into the IB (IP) track at higher level. there will be no such opportunity, if he chooses Nan Hua. If school fees and finance is not a problem for you, ACSI seems a better choice.
4. If you still like RV alot. Then there is no harm, putting 1. RV, 2. ACSI and 3. Nan Hua. It don't put you in a disadvantage of getting into ACSI or Nan Hua just because they didn't put the school as first choice because your T-score is way higher than the previous year COP. -

My ds got 268 and is thiniking to put RV as first choice - least travel time.
Trying to get to know more abt RV in all the useful post.
Hope someone can help share more information on -
1) how would PSLE students and resoruces would be split on the 2 RV system?
2) would it be a split all the way to yr 6?
3) Read about PRC scholars on earlier post - anyone know how many are recruited each year? and at which level they are recruited?
4) for last "A" Level batch, anyone know how many obtain govt scholarships?
Appreciate all inputs, thanks. -
I heard that the COP might be raised this year? Appreciate your thoughts sharing. Tks

1. I cannot answer this part about 2 RVs as I am not in the school management. Concerned parents should probably have raised the questions during the open house. Alternatively, parents can try calling up the school to ask. My take is that there is no 2 RVs really, the principal just splitting the tasks for the two vice principals.
2. See above.
3. PRC scholars joins in Sec 3. Actually, it is not a unique features of RV because most other schools practice the same thing. About 20-30 joins each year. I think MOE has a quota for each school.
4. For last year A level, RV produces 2 PSC scholars (see the link I provide). I am not sure about other less prestigious gov scholarships. That is not alot but you have to take into consideration that RI and HCI have a much larger cohort size. For previous year, there were more. I think the number will gradually increase as RV just revamps its leadership programme with AYLC (Asian Young Leader Convention) as one of the feature.

I think that how the school is separated is through the houses of a pupil. Coz they stated in the open house booklet they will be split into something like RV PRO and RV RGY
So I think that means the color of the student’s houses.
