ngbrdad:
Hi,Ngbrdad,
I'm not sure.tisha:
Yes, ngbrdad. That is his dream school. So we are putting it as first choice. Will be submitting the choices latest by tomo.
BTW, do you know if NJC requires you to put their school as first choice if planning to appeal later?
Is your DS in same situation like my DS ie cleared Hast but didn't clear the second round ?
My DW is not very keen in appealing to NJC after all the problems in the DSA process.
Actually my dd also quite similiar from ur ds situation. She scored 247 and went through the 1st round of dsa at njc. It wad double blow again when she didn't made it after psle. This has always being her dream school as her cousin is also in the school. Didn't dare to appeal cause her mark was really too off and don't want her to be disappointed for the 3rd time. That s why going to try for scgs but did prep her that it s also difficult to go in scgs .
However, ur son do have 1 thing more that will put him apart from my dd .He is a gepper.
So all the best to him and I will pray for him as well as for my girl that both of them can eventually go into the school they want . :xedfingers: -

If you were not in GEP, then secondary cannot take GE? Or can apply?
They used to have a GE selection at sec 1, they have removed that. GEP is no longer a big focus now. -

Yep , I'm going to SST . Just went to register yesterday . Still thinking of which third language should I take . The MOE language centre is quite near my new campus near Buona Vista MRT station . Actually , my mum told me to appeal to better schools like RV but I didn't want . I told her that SST is still my choice as I like the style of the school. Really excited waiting for the school year to start.

Congratulations. My son has appealed and we are keeping our fingers crossed. Like you he likes the style of the school and has his heart set on it. Good luck for the 2nd chapter of your school education.

:thankyou: Hope your son gets into SST ! U can ask me for more information on SST.
Let me share with you some information .
1)There will be an orientation camp taking place on the 5th of January and it is an overnight camp in school . Parents have to report to SST on 6th of January at 6pm till 9.30pm for the badge ceremony.
2)The learning device will cost around $2,000-$2,600. We also need to get the uniform and the books which cost about $250-$300 in total.
3)There are already assignments assigned to us on the SST blog for students of 2012. Not as easy (have to use our critical thinking skills).
4)We drove past the new campus and it's really cool and big. There is a sports complex , a football field in the middle of the campus and three more blocks on the other side. It's almost done and I saw some workers working on the flooring.
5)The footwear for SST students can be any footwear as long as it's a sports/track shoe worn with socks. There are different colours of the PE t-shirt which represent the house colour . Currently , we are not informed of our house colour yet until they have arranged the class list.
Hope you found the information above useful. You can ask me for more information regarding SST and I will try my best to answer you if I can. -
Hi anyone knows how reliable is the information given by Edupoll :-
Edupoll’s Top 5 Girl Schools in Singapore ( by prestige ) are:
1.Raffles Girls’ Secondary School ( PSLE cut-off: 265)
2.Nanyang Girls’ High School ( PSLE cut-off: 262)
3.Singapore Chinese Girls’ School ( PSLE cut-off: 254 )
4.Methodist Girls’ School ( PSLE cut-off : 253 )
5.CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School ( PSLE cut-off: 250 )
My fren's dd is freaking out upon reading the above as her T-score is 256 & her dream school is RGS. Anyone has any input?

ms_lim:
Hi Ms_limMy dd got 259+2 for her psle. She was unsuccessful for RGS/NYGH DSA previously (only managed to get through RGS GAT). We plan to put :
1st : RGS
2nd : NYGH
3rd : NJC
4th : RV
..
We know that most likely she will be posted to NJC/RV. However, her dream school is RGS/NYGH. Thus, we decided to use 1st 2 choices to try. Pls advise :
1) Is there anyway I can appeal to RGS or NYGH now and what is the appeal procedure? I called RGS but they told me to go through S1 posting.
2) I heard that if we appeal only after S1 posting is out and in the event that the appeal is unsuccessful, she will lose the school which MOE has posted her initially. Is it true?
Am not sure about appeal process at RGS/NYGH because different schools may differ, so better to check with schools directly.
My understanding with Appeal is, you still have to report to the school you are posted to on 22 December even if you are appealing to other schools.
You need to report to the posted school to 'chope' the place. If you do not report on 22 Dec, the computer will strike off your name thinking that you do not require the place.
So report to posted school on 22 Dec first, while waiting for appeal results from other schools . Treat them as separate matter. Appeal results take awhile, depending on vacancies of each school. May be as late as end Dec or first week Jan. -

From the table, it says that fee for citizen at HCI remains as $200 and they only revise the fee for PR. At RI, fee for PR is $400 leh.Found the school fees structure for RI and HCI for 2012:
RI: $300 + $35 for supplementary fee
http://www.ri.edu.sg/main/schoolinfo/forstudents/admissionfee/schoolfees
HCI: $360
