Was it really done by computer during our time ?
I would suppose this computer no longer makes mistakes. haha... in my days, my dear classmate with 7points had put HCJC as 1st choice and RJC as 2nd choice. The COP for HCJC was 8 points in the end, but my classmate got a letter posting him to \"Beatty Pre-U centre\". *shock*. In the end, even though his score within HCJC COP, they put him in RJC bc no more space in HCJC.phankao:

merit over choice. you got to learn to trust yourself and trust the MOE computer
the computer in MOE is programmed to work that way, no emo one
if it is your turn based on the t-score, the computer won't process the next lower score unless your posting is done by the computer
Oh, and I also had a bit of fun with this computer during the Provisional Entry period, but to my advantage. It was quite a dumb computer. *haha*.
I wonder who were the programmers.
Not manually ?
Computer lah. But maybe the person entered it wrongly. hah! All the schools had code already too. The computer also didn't detect illegal codes though. And the clerk is probably just a data-entry clerk, so just enter whatever the forms we submitted show. -

Hm...I was there this afternoon too. I thought what the presenter meant was 256/257 are borderline cases, nothing to do with incomplete score (25x + y). If incomplete score are considered 2nd-best vs 'complete', then there is no point of having HMT bonus point.
hi phtthtp..phtthp:
at Hwa Chong Institute (HCI) open house today 2 pm,
top 3 % P6 boys who are interested to enter HCI, may note:-
if you score 259 & above, school said you are safe.
but if your score is 257 or 258, school request that you kindly fill up the green form from Admin office to appeal.
for incomplete score at 256 or 257, these are borderline case.
school advice that - put down HCI as 1st choice, and make sure that your 2nd choice must be a confident entry into the other respective Secondary school selected.
- incomplete score at 257 means actual score is 254 + '3'.
- incomplete score at 256 means actual score is 253 + '3'.
this is a very important pc of info for those who are keen to put HCI as 1st choice. Can you post this at '2011 PSLE DISCUSSION' thread also...Many are asking about their ds' chances of getting into HCI. thanks
However, the presenter did mention that although last year's COP was 257, only 3 got in with 257. He was saying it is not a complete set of 257s students because there are decimal point behind 257... I think that is what he meant by incomplete. -
vlim:
Huh??? Have not even submit S1 posting or know S1 posting results, already need to submit appeal??? :scratchhead: I'm very confused with this S1 posting process :frustrated:

Just to save the parents another trip since they are there for the open house today.

Yes, HCI presenter said that last year got boys with 257 got in, after successful appeal.
inside the admin office (AFTER the briefing ended), some parents walk in to inquire with following case
- one was (253 + 3) => 256
- another was (254 + 3) ==> 257
in both cases, they were told to:-
fill up HCL as 1st choice, 2nd choice put down a confident school to enter.
actually appeal take place after Dec 21.
but since parents physically there today, if need to appeal, might as well submit green form on the spot, save them another trip come down again after Dec 21. -

In case this yr RI cop is 269..Choco05:
My son got 268. Is it ok to select RI as only one choice? Or need to select other schools for backup?
It should be ok to put RI as first choice, but best fill up all 6 choices in case.
:siam:
vlim,
Good to hear from you again.

From experience, once you get into a school through DSA, it is impossible to appeal. My DD was DSAed and then applied to a better school but was not even considered. The next year DD2 was told specifically by the teacher from the better school not to accept any DSA, so that the school can take her should her T-score is above 250 and below the COP. So I know for sure this DSA thingy has been around for sometime, and perhaps made formal this year.
Yes it's always been around. Just that the appeals are getting out of hand now. I think with the internet age and people sharing information more freely in forums like this one, more people are aware of loopholes and using them to their advantage. Appeals probably are getting too many to handle and making a mockery of the COs and students' commitments to the CO schools are being questioned.
