They gave a holder but sometimes it's not very effectiveMummySTay:
Scars to remind one of a beautiful ceremony should not be too bad. Maybe should let her get burnt too. That's how you recognize an RGS girl when not wearing uniform. :rotflmao:
RGS tattoo...

Maybe RI also has something like that and when people see the burnt mark on your DS's hand, they may think he is from RGS. Oops! :siam: -

Orientation week basically starts when you go to school, and lasts for a week. There's an overnight stay camp on the last 2 days. It features performances put up by the year 1s on the last day(likely a Saturday)and parents can go and see it!chatterbox321:

Thank you so much for the valuable input! May I know more about the \"Orientation Week\"? When will it be?
Orientation week is like this week to teach the new Sec 1s our famous Raffles Cheers, introduction to Houses, School song, class bonding and nice stuff like that:) Oh those are the days!~
You will be given a programme booklet that includes a school map(trust me you need it  )and the facilities, plus timetables for each day.
The reason for not being allowed to wear the blouse+pinafore is that you are not considered as an RGS girl fully until the Badge Initiation Ceremony (likely to be on a Friday).
The BIC is nice. You will finally be given the RGS school badge and you get to light up nice candles and sing and it's basically very cool! There will also be games, be it inter-house games or class ones. It's for you to bond with your class! Preparing for the play/performance is cool too.
This might sound frightening to a shy person(i was one) especially the camp but really as you go further into the year you will wish you can have another camp with your class
CCA orientation also falls on this week. Likely the 1st day.
At least this was what we did this year.
:goodpost: Thanks for all the info!! So what do you wear for the whole of orientation week?? And so we will have to stay overnight on one of the days during orientation week? -
Choco05:
Culottes + PE shirt, and yes. You might not get to shower, but oh well. And sleeping in an air-con classroom is nice
