        Good timing, indeed! How nice if CHS (Primary) also starts at 8am.. but the younger boys must be in school by 7.15am!

        Ngbrdad, is CHS one of your DS' choices of Sec Schs? Isn't it quite far from your place?

            Hi

            Would like to seek advice for the following:

            1. For CHS, if a student is eligible for 3rd language and he opt for it, however after the 1st year, he thinks that he cannot cope, can he later drop this subject?

            2. CHS offers MEP, if the child is not trained in music, will he lose out if he will to choose CHS?

            Many thanks for your advice.

              Hi Hifive (lols),

              1. Yes, he can drop 3rd Lang at ANY single point of time. You can kinda of like, quit a day after going for the 1st lesson too. All you need to do is to fill up the lengthy withdrawal form from the 3rd Lang GO and get quite a couple of signatures (principal, teacher, parents, etc.)

              2. Your child will absolutely not lose out. If thatโ€™s the case, most of the kids from other schools such as RI or RGS would lose out too. Quite a nasty prospect, eh? MEP is a very specialized programme for those very passionate or gifted in Music. I know of people who are really good at music, having diplomas, but still unwilling to take up Music as a subject. Music to them, is kinda of like a hobby of sorts. Hmm, I digress. Basically, he will not lose out.

              @ngbrdad

              Hi, Bishan MRT is very near to CHS. Yes, most students prefer walking there. Oh, and school starts at 8.00am, but students are expected to be at school by 7.30am. Morning assembly normally starts around that time.

                MEP is an elective. It's not a compulsory core subject. You have to apply to take that elective. So if your child does not take MEP(music elective programme), how will he lose out?

                No issue there.

                      I am not too sure about the PSG in CHS but on special occasions, they do make an effort to organise thematic activities and food fairs.

                        Thanks for the feedback. My DS choosing it as the first choice.

                        But when we were at Cheung Chen High (Main), the PSG chairman was there together with the Pricincipal during the open house.

                        Hope the PSG at CHS can be as good.
