Hi Augmum, what is the recommended number of PE t-shirts to buy? Are pupils allow to wear PE t-shirts even on non-PE days? Must they change back to their blouses once PE/CCA is over?

Thanks Augmum for the detailed reply.

I also have the same question as moirwong. How many days in the week do they have PE? Are they allowed to be in the PE attire the whole day on PE days or they have to bring their PE attire along and change back after the PE lesson?

      hi all,
as for me, i bot 3 sets of sch uniforms and 2 sets of PE attire.

PE lessons is once or twice per wk, depending on which wk of the mth as they go by 10 day timetable.

No, they are allowed to wear the PE T-shirt after PE for reasons given
      i) it is unhygienic after a sweaty session
ii) it is not a proper sch uniform (looks ugly with the T's sleeve longer than the blouse/shirt)

u can wear the PE T under the blouse/shirt when going to sch,
but after the PE lesson, will need to change back..... 😉[/quote]Thanks Augmum. I going to be a copy cat... :moneyflies: :rotflmao:

        Hi

I am a newbie in this forum and my child may potentially be joining DHS.

Just wondering. Has any DHS student feels that he/she has made the right choice in choosing DHS over any of the branded top 4 secondary schools? Or vice-versa?

The reason I ask is my child is short of 1 point to get to the dream school and is still feeling lousy about it.

no point feeling lousy….. encourage her to accept the reality and move on from there…...
Of coz, if the desire is too strong, appeal is the next thing to do after the posting.
If still unsuccessful, at least he or she can tell himself/herself that he/she has already done the best……

Fyi, my gal’s psle agg score could get her into ANY schools under the S1 posting (except the boys sch lah….)
        But we chose DHS.
Distance is one of the crucial factor to consider. (though some parents may disagree.....)
It would pain me to see her spending hrs on the road
to travel all the way to the west and back home after a tiring day daily.
even for working adults, they will feel tired, what's more to a child ??

btw, the top few in her cohort in her primary school also chose DHS.
And there are few classmates in her class having psle agg score of 27X
(I dunnno why they aren’t put into the 2 gep classes like the rest)
so not all pupils who are not qualified for the so called \"top 4 schs\"
        then they come to DHS.....
there are still other good schs to choose from........

anyway, like what i used to say, to each his own......

hereby, wish yr child all the best ............

        Hi Augmum,

How do they select students for the GEP classes? Will a gepper be automatically put into the GEP class?

What's the diff between the GEP classes and non-gep classes? I believe the GE branch will no longer be involve in the Sec school Education isn't it? So the GEP classes are under DHS' own GE program?

the gep classes are under SBGE Program.
Was told Overall not much different, except they have more worksheets in maths n science.
They may go online for additional stuff.
Whether the teachers teach more or not, i am not too sure......
But overall performance of one of the gep classes lose out to one of the other classes. ( the average gpa)

                    Hi all

Thank you so much. Really appreciate all the kind words and encouragement. Will let my dd read all your contributions.

Myself, DH and DD going to Dunman High on monday to have a feel of the school’s surroundings. Hope we can meet some students there and have a chat with them.

Once again, thank you so much.
