p4 gep students just finished their exams .. my son found the science exam very difficult as some question were not taught at all... would like to have feedback from parents of current p4 gep students. He found the chinese compre very difficult too πŸ™

My DS found the papers OK. He told me that he should be getting his results back by today. I was like \"so fast\"?!! :xedfingers:

More Chinese cultural environment? Then HC.
        Believe HC offers only HCL.

In terms of school culture, RI and HC certainly have richer culture as compared to the younger NUSH.

I can't decide for him since he is just a student in my student care centre. But I did give him some advice lor. I asked him what drives him in studies? Is it the drive to compete and be amongst the best? If yes, then narrow down to RI or Hwa Chong. More Chinese cultural environment? Then HC.

As for NUS High, the system allows you to excel and accelerate as high up as you can any particular subject/s at your own pace. So a secondary school student can be studying a subject at A - level equivalent.
I guess he is more suitable for NUS High cos he is a very relax kind of guy. 😎 πŸ˜„
My child is facing the dilemma - HCI/RI/NUSH - To put it simply, it just seems to be a \"waste\" if he does not choose RI, which is seen by most as the top sec school. I know this comment would attract a lot of feedback and please do so for I need enlightenment. For NUSH, my worries is that should he lose passion in Math/Science midway through the course, then what's exit path? HCI - have to compete with PRC kids, am I right?

              Hi
              I beg to differ.
My boy is in HCI because he discovered HCI very interesting during one of the school open house.
I supposed you and your child has attended all the school open house. Since if the kid that will face the school every day, why not let him and you make a joint decision.
By the way, there is PRC kids in HCI, but is not a alarming number.
I supposed all the bright kids, whether they are local or from overseas, inevitably they will chose one of the \"famous\" school.

:celebrate: So, what drives your kid to excellence? Very competitive type, wanting to be the best? It takes a lot of self-determination and courage to compete with the best and not easily discouraged when losing out to others.
If he excels best when he does not need to compete with others, NUS High would be more suitable. Also what does he hope to be when he grows up? Become a scientist, lecturer, researcher? NUS High is the place.
Perhaps get your kid to go for a DISC test to determine what qualities and temperament he has might help.

What scholarship are you refering to?
                      - If it's EESIS in indept sch for sec edu, your child needs to continue to be in GEP. That is pass in Social Studies and manage to get into indept sch.
                      - Scholarship for undergraduate course: your child needs excellent academic results, outstanding CCA records and active community involvement. Of course, performance at interview is finally the deciding factor.

thanks. I am referring to the scholarship for undergraduate course. Secondly I would like to know will the students be briefed or informed about the criteria of qualifying for the scholarship when they are in sec 1 so that they will be prepared for it if they are interested. :please:
