Does any of ur kids attend the chess course?participate any competition?My son’s school doesn’t have.Is that possible to participate by private candidate?Is that any useful for DSA?TIA

unless it is inter-school team competition, individual can sign up for competition with SCF (but better confirm with SCF for specific competition). One difference is that entry fee would be heavily subsidized by school if registered via school.


one parent told me that although chess might not be offically used as a domain for DSA, there was once a girl who did successfully apply for DSA using chess. Also heard a Weiqi DSA case. However, these two successful candidates are the very top players in this mind sport.

Yes you can try SCF , besides there , is weiqi too.

I entrolled my son in SCF.He assessed and qualified for intermediate level.Next week going to development 1.

Thanks to all! After I read this I asked them to assess my son.Otherwise he will start from beginner.We save $350.

They are quite established.

My friend sends his children there for lessons and they have been winning trophies.

Apparently many of the top local junior chess players learn chess there.

My son is 12, we live overseas but will be returning to SG very soon.

He's interested to try chess ... where is a good place to sign him up?

I tried to contact power chess, but they are quite expensive ... then again, I'm not sure how much it costs elsewhere.

Searching for a chess school/club ... :boogie: ... grateful for some good recommendations ... TIA!
