2009 GEP Screening And Selection
-
hi watmekiasu and pench,
Are your kids the type who love reading and having reading a lot? -
watmekiasu:
My kiddy just told me easy...pench:
about the GEP selection test today, my dd said English paper is very difficult

Mine found it difficult too. She said there were 9 questions that she wasn't sure of , in Sec A. However, she also said that GA paper was a breeze. That makes me even more worried cos when she finds anything a breeze, she usually doesn't perform as expected. I find myself telling dd all the time that not being selected for GEP is not a total loss - I'm so worried that she'll take it badly if she doesn't get in. It's the first time she has shown an interest in an exam - she's usually very, very laid back.
he must be kidding again... where got GEP test easy one. I have never heard that GEP test is easy in the history of this forum yet .

my dd loves reading very much, she reads 20+ books borrowed from library every week... myopia 350

Let me see ... HC was a top school 20 years ago. It was already on par with RI then. I'm not sure if 5 years could make such a vast difference, but my husband got in by 266 points at psle. Or perhaps 266 is a lousy result in your opinion? I mean, I meant it. I could be talking to a scholar of psle with 294.znzyzyzx:
by the way, HC and HCI are different. One is international school, that means, got money , willing to pay the school fee, can get in.
Actually , HC was not a fantastic school many many moons ago. All my three brothers were from HC, and they were not bright students. And my neighbours (more than 25 years ago) were accepted into HC also their results were no good.
But I think HC has changed over the years, and now it has become a school that is almost on par with RI.
I think partly due to HWJC too.
No , you are not talking to a scholar with psle of 294. You are just talking to someone that psle result only show pass or fail.
When I said more than 25 years ago, it was actual 30plus year.
In any case, your husband could be the top scorer(or among the top lah) to be admited to HC in that year, wherea my neighbours' kids could be the lowest scorer to be adminted in his year.
And for your information, my youngest brother is above 50 years old, so I am really talking about quite a long while ago.
Anyway, I am not trying to say anything bad about HC, for your information, if my son can make it, I would probably let him go there as well. I am just telling something that I know many years ago. No offence intended. -
